Ziard is a minor character in The Dragon Prince. He is one of the first dark mages in history, who died fighting against Sol Regem when the latter tried to destroy Elarion.
He was voiced by Bryan Drummond.

His Villainous Deeds[]
- He started using dark magic, which uses creatures to make spells, and made several other humans do the same and become his followers.
- While he had understandable reasons to do so, he killed six magical birds to use them to make a magic spell in order to kill Sol Regem.
- Many of Viren's and Claudia's actions were caused by his use of dark magic and him teaching others how to use it.
Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- He fails the high heinous standards of the Dragon Prince compared to characters like Viren, Claudia, Sol Regem, Aaravos, and Kasef.
- He is a morally ambiguous anti-villain as all he wants to use magic for is to help humans evolve and start being seen as beings with the same significance as elves and dragons.
- He was shocked when he found out Sol Regem's willingness to destroy an entire city filled with thousands of innocents and children. He even tried to stop him from doing so and died as a result.
- He has respect for the individual who gave him his staff, calling him "one of the great ones".
- His death is played for sympathy as he died understanding that his attempts to save Elarion were useless, and the brief scene where his staff falls after his body disintegrated has a sad background music.
