~ Vanny talking to Glitchtrap.

Vanessa, also known as Vanny, is the secondary antagonist of the Steel Wool era of the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise.

She serves as the main protagonist of Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted, the unseen overarching antagonist of Five Nights at Freddy's AR: Special Delivery, the main antagonist of Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach and the overarching protagonist of Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted 2.

She is a young woman who was corrupted by Glitchtrap in order to continue his crimes. She murders children under his orders and, after a child called Gregory betrays her, orders the Glamrock animatronics to kill him.

She was voiced by Jessica Tang in Help Wanted and Heather Masters and Marta Sveteck in Security Breach.

Her Evil Ranking[]

Her Villainous Deeds[]

  • Even during her childhood, she was ordered by her father to say bad things about her mother during their divorce and custody battle, and this was implied to result in her mother committing suicide. Though, this was against Vanessa's will and she never intended to do it.
  • She directly helps Glitchtrap in all his crimes and does them for him.
  • She hacked the entire Fazbear Funtime Service by tricking the employees into believing that she's there to help, while in reality she made the animatronics more aggressive, with implications that said employees were killed.
  • She sends the Funtime Service animatronics into people's houses to kill them.
  • She is implied to have organized an "all-staff meeting" for every human employee at Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex and murdered every single one of them there so that she could become the only human employee at the Pizzaplex.
  • She killed at least nine children in the Pizzaplex before the events of Security Breach. This isn't off-screen villainy as the clothes of said children can be found in her hideout, and we can see them on a newspaper in the Bad Ending.
  • It maybe possible that she and Glitchtrap were corrupting the Glamrock endoskeletons into becoming hostile towards children, as showcase by the various graffiti marks spray painted on the wall with one of them having her and Glitchtrap on it.
  • Despite Gregory helping her and Glitchtrap, she still tries to kill him afterwards.
  • When Gregory manages to escape her, she orders Glamrock Chica, Roxanne Wolf and Montgomery Gator to kill him, who were already brainwashed beforehand.
  • She sometimes tries to kill Gregory by herself.
  • In the canon ending, she has the S.T.A.F.F. Bots disassemble Glamrock Freddy. While he survives in the former, it's at the cost of him being a dismembered head.
  • Although the Glamrock animatronics serve her orders, especially into killing Gregory, she did nothing to stop the boy from brutally wrecking them to stealing their upgrades and eventually left them to rot when the whole Pizzaplex gets destroyed by Tangle even after she was freed from brainwashing, showing that she doesn't care for them and only viewed them as pawns, in addition to her not treating Freddy any better beforehand.
    • Its also implied she might be abusive towards them, given how she went through the Parts and Services elevator hallway that led to Roxy's Greenroom, with Roxy herself is later found crying over her self-esteem issues, making it possible that Vanessa harshly scolded her for not catching the boy when exiting her room.

Why Doesn't She Stand Out?[]

  • While she most certainly passes the baseline thanks to killing several children and her brutal dismemberment of Glamrock Freddy (knowing fully well that he is sapient), she still fails the wider Heinous Standard of the franchise to Gregory (who brutally killed her therapists with far less resources since he's an ordinary kid whereas Vanessa is a security guard. While she has more kills, Gregory has the bonus of his being more brutal) and even William Afton himself (while it's true that he definitely has higher resources, he held back on them given he only used the Spring Bonnie suit to murder 11 children and stuffed five of them into animatronics, thus nullifying this argument).
    • While sending the Funtime Services animatronics into people's homes, as well as the implications she killed her co-workers, could make her heinous enough since she would be endangering dozens of people, this suffers from Fridge Horror as no deaths were confirmed.
  • She is extremely tragic, as her father abused her and forced her to say bad things about her mother during their divorce and custody battle when she was a child, which presumably ended in her mother's suicide. Afterwards, Glitchtrap would painfully brainwash Vanessa into being his underling and doing his bidding, and it's shown she is not enjoying this and is begging for help.
  • She seems to like Luis and care for him, as despite ignoring his flirting, she still calls him sweet and a nice guy during the therapy tapes.
  • She is a villain by proxy as Glitchtrap forces her to commit her crimes and she's not taking any major joy in it, being scared of him and following his orders due to fear and brainwashing.
  • She has extreme moral agency issues, as it is unclear when she killed the children if she was in full or any control when doing this, or was perhaps even unaware of her crimes.
  • She redeems herself once Gregory manages to defeat Glitchtrap, taking him in and becoming his friend. In the Help Wanted 2 ending, she even finishes off Glitchtrap.

Trivia[]

  • It’s been theorized that Vanny brainwashed Monty to kill Bonnie. If this was confirmed to be true, it would make her even worse.
    • In addition to this, there are some unused dialogue where Freddy tried plead with Chica, Roxy, and Monty to resist Vanny's orders but they ultimately didn't listen and brutally shattered him to bits and then brainwashed him with the Glitchtrap virus to have him hunt and try to kill Gregory. Had this been kept in the final game, it would make her even worse as well.
  • Her moral ranking has been interchangeable for a long time. She was firstly approved as Near Pure Evil due to murdering nine kids and being sadistic about it despite Glitchtrap ordering her to do it, but was later cut due to severe moral agency issues. She was then approved as Inconsistently Heinous when it was concluded that she still stood out in comparison to other villains in the series and stayed that way for a while (even gaining more inconsistent factors including her tragic backstory and redemption), but she was later removed from being Inconsistently Heinous and earned a place on this wiki due to failing the Heinous Standards to other villains in the series.
