Twisty the Clown is a supporting antagonist in American Horror Story who appears in the show's fourth season Freak Show.
He was portrayed by John Carroll Lynch.

His Villainous Deeds[]
- He kidnapped children and murdered their parents as well under the pretense of being abusive, even if many of them weren't.
- He played a role in Dandy becoming a serial killer, as Dandy discovered he kidnapped children.
Why Doesn’t He Stand Out?[]
- While his kidnapping of children and murdering their parents is bad enough to pass the baseline, he massively fails the heinous standards compared to other villains including his minion Dandy Mott.
- He loves children and wishes to not just entertain them but protect them from their abusive parents. And genuinely believes he’s still doing so. This makes him protective and a well-intentioned extremist.
- He is too tragic to even be Near Pure Evil, as his backstory involved him being dropped on his head as a baby and later driven to suicide (which failed) as an adult by two dwarves who falsely accused him of being a pedophile. This is why Edward Mordrake chooses him to be part of his circus, so he could go back to doing what he loved most.
- He suffers from moral agency issues as a result of being dropped after his birth. More importantly, he genuinely believes he is protecting the children from abusive parents and doesn't know that his actions are wrong.
- It was not his intention to persuade Dandy to hurt people, though Dandy believes that Twisty was placed on Earth to persuade him to become a serial killer.
- He redeems himself after his death and is welcomed by the ghosts of Mordrake's circus trope in the afterlife.
