This new world should be built only by the young. There's no need for us to rebuild the same world that stood before.
~ Tsukasa to Senku.

Tsukasa Shishio (in Japanese: 獅子王司, Shishiō Tsukasa) is a former antagonist from the anime/manga series Dr. Stone, serving as the main antagonist of the Stone Wars Saga before being reformed and becoming a major supporting character.

Like the rest of humanity, he was petrified and later revived by Senku Ishigami. Upon awakening, Tsukasa aimed to establish a new world by reviving only the strongest and morally upright individuals. To achieve this vision, he sought to eliminate Senku, who aimed to revive all of humanity. Tsukasa implemented a strategy of shattering the statues of those he considered incompatible with his vision for the new world.

He was voiced by Yuichi Nakamura in the Japanese version, and by Ian Sinclair in the English version.

His Evil Ranking[]

His Villainous Deeds[]

  • When Senku rejected his idea to only revive the pure of heart, young, and strongest people, Tsukasa tried to kill him.
  • To lure in Senku, he took Taiju's lover Yuzuriha hostage.
  • He smashed several statues of innocent people, to prevent them from being revived by Senku. This was done before the discovery that they could be pieced back together and revived, which means Tsukasa essentially tried to kill them.
  • After "killing" Senku, Tsukasa attempted to steal the Revival Fluid for himself, so only he and he alone could dictate who would be revived in the new world.
  • With the Revival Fluid, Tsukasa revived an army of the strongest people he could find and founded the Empire of Might, a large and powerful militaristic force that opposed Senku's ways and disavowed science.
  • He kidnapped Chrome from Ishigami Village and held him prisoner.
  • He waged war against Senku and the Kingdom of Science and was willing to kill them all in order to protect the integrity of his mission.

Why Doesn't He Stand Out?[]

  • He fails to meet the heinous standards of other antagonists like Ibara, who committed significantly worse crimes than him with similar resources.
  • He's a well-intentioned (albeit extremely misguided) extremist whose main goal was to preserve the integrity of the new world and prevent it from being tainted by the same greed and corruption that plagued the world they knew before.
    • Additionally, despite not wanting humanity to be tainted with science, he doesn't discredit Senku's cause nor rejects science entirely, as he tells Senku that in his new world, science would still be used to aid humanity, but only in supplementary ways.
  • He's very honorable. There are numerous times where he spares people, such as Chrome and Gen, despite them betraying him and getting between him and his goals. And while he admits to wanting to kill Senku, he emphasizes that it's only because he deems it necessary to prevent humanity from being tainted by science and technology.
  • He genuinely respects Senku and regards him as an equal. He even built a grave for Senku to mourn him after he was presumed dead.
  • He has a sympathetic backstory. He's extremely powerful because he spent most of his childhood training in order to be strong enough to protect his younger sister, and when she fell into a deep coma due to an incurable brain disease, he became a professional boxer in order to financially support her medical care.
    • Part of his motivation for wanting to create a better world was because he experienced the greed of humanity first-hand through the flawed healthcare system, which he believes didn't do enough to help his sister.
  • He redeems himself by teaming with Senku and helping him defeat his former ally Hyoga. He also sacrificed himself in order to protect his little sister by jumping in the way of Hyoga's blade when he tried stabbing her, taking the full force of the blade through his chest. However, he's later revived by Senku following their voyage to Treasure Island.
  • Upon being revived, he accepted Senku's request that he accompany them to the moon without hesitation, hoping to atone for his past offenses and make peace with the Kingdom of Science.

Trivia[]

  • Tsukasa was the first person in the story to establish an empire in Japan after the petrification event. However, his empire was established hundreds of years after the finding of the Ishigami Village (which is not an empire).
