Villainous Benchmark Wiki

When I was your age, I enslaved my first dimension.
~ Trigon to Raven.
Behold Trigon. Master of the dark, destroyer of dimensions, enslaver of civilizations...
~ Trigon's debut.

Trigon is one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside Gizmo) of the 2013 Cartoon Network series Teen Titans Go!, and one of the two main antagonists (alongside his 2003 counterpart) of Cartoon Network's 8th animated feature film Teen Titans Go! vs. Teen Titans. He is Raven's demonic father who seeks to get her to embrace her dark side.

He is voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson.

His Evil Ranking[]

His Villainous Deeds[]

In General[]

  • He is a tyrannical demon known and feared in the entire universe for enslaving and destroying countless dimensions and he wants to be the most powerful being that has ever existed while subjecting everyone to his control.
  • While he is a demon and this gives explanation to his evil nature, he still shows a clear moral agency as he and other members of his race can choose to do good or evil and Trigon still chooses to be evil while taking great pride in it.
  • He was, and still is, a terrible father for Raven because during all her life he smashed her dreams for his delusional belief that she must become as evil as him to succeed him as the ruler of his empire. Due to this, he obviously hates her choice of being a superhero and he still torments her to turn her into the evil demon he wants her to be, according to his point of view.
  • Most of the kindness that he shows to the Teen Titans while meeting them is done out of pragmatism to get along with them before showing his true intentions, as he in reality hates them for constantly foiling her plans and not liking them as influence for Raven, which also makes him hypocritical considering that he is worst companion for her than them even when the Titans are extremely anti-heroic.
  • Despite only standing out for Villainous Benchmark (see reasons below), Trigon is arguably one of the most, if not the most, heinous villain in the series due to having destroyed countless of dimensions killing all their inhabitants, threatening to destroy the Earth multiple times, almost killing thousands of counterparts of the Teen Titans from different universes as Hexagon, and his constant torment towards his own daughter.

Season 1[]

  • In "Dog Hand", he first feigns to be a kind person towards the Teen Titans, giving them new powers, and tries to convince Raven to embrace her dark side, after failing he attempts to kill all of them.
  • In "Dreams", he is in Raven's dream capturing the four Titans and attempting to kill her.

Season 2[]

  • In "Caramel Apples", he almost destroys all the world because Raven didn't give him a Father's Day gift (which he rightfully doesn't deserve). When Starfire gives him one, he feigns to be a father figure for her to turn her against Raven causing both to fight.
  • In "Thanksgiving", he comes to the Titan Tower to spend Thanksgiving with his daughter without invitation, then he turns Cyborg into a turkey and attempts to eat him.
  • In "Crazy Day", he invades Raven's mind to drive her crazy to become her demonic.
  • In "Nean", he uses a spell to force Raven to act nice even when she doesn't want to.

Season 3[]

  • In "The Titans Show", he is among the villains who fights the Teen Titans to force them to continue with the Island TV special.

Season 4[]

  • In "Justice League's Next Top Talent Idol Star", she tries to ruin Raven's dream of becoming a dancer only because he believes that demons don't dance. Only accepts herself when he sees her causing destruction when she dances.
  • In "Demon Prom", he wants to take Raven to the Demon Prom to turn her into the ruler of the underworld during the next millenium and tricks the Titans to turn her into the queen of the prom.

Season 5[]

  • In "Lil' Dimples", he tricks Raven to make a performance that summons a demon and almost kill everyone who was in the beauty pageant.
  • In "What We Learned at Camp", he brainwashes all the superheroes using medals in the Super Summer Hero Camp to kill the Teen Titans and reveals his intentions to rule the World and turn it into Camp Trigon.

Season 6[]

  • In "BBRAEBDAY", he celebrates Raven's Sinister Sixteen to make her succumb to her demonic side.

Season 8[]

  • In "Original Idea", he attempts to proclaim his family bookstore as his domain.

Teen Titans Go! vs Teen Titans[]

  • He secretly organizes a tournament between the Teen Titans and their 2003 series counterparts to revive the 2003 Trigon and use the Worlagog to conquer the Multiverse, then kidnap the Ravens of their respective worlds.
  • While he was willing to team up with the original Trigon, it was done for having the same desire of conquering the Multiverse, while any loyalty that he may have at first is only for being another version of himself, showing his ego.
  • He ends up devouring the original Trigon to turn into Hexagon and attempts to fight and kill thousands of versions of the Teen Titans from different universes.

Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]

  • While he easily passes the baseline with his unique crimes of mass genocide, omnicide, cannibalism and family cruelty, which arguably marks the heinous standards of the show, Trigon is still too reliant on off-screen villainy to stand out, as his worst crimes of enslaving and destroying dimensions why everyone fears him are only speculated but the extent of his cruelty is not explored in sufficient depth, this including his attempt to brainwash the entire world to turn in into his own camp or his attempt to conquer the Multiverse as hexagon, as his plans of enslavement are never shown and is also unknown if his methods of brainwashing on the superheroes caused them to suffer any pain, therefore he ultimately suffers from fridge horror.
    • These facts arguably makes him to fail the heinous standards to his 2003 counterpart, who committed the same crimes in the original show that gave him the Pure Evil status such as destroying Azarath and attempting to turn the entire world into stone. Due to both appearing in the crossover movie, which is non-canon for the original Teen Titans continuity but canon for Teen Titans Go!, Trigon has to be compared with him due to having similar resources.
  • Due to the comedic nature of the series, Trigon is played for laughs too much for NPE and isnt taken all that seriously. Examples of his personal detracting comedy includes his trait of parodying the role of the typical sitcom family father in most of the episodes when he has family disputes with Raven and he is also involved in the moments of absurd humor of the Teen Titans while interacting with them.
  • He cares for his family, including Raven even if in a twisted way. Because when he tries to embrace her dark side, despite harming her and doing it mainly for his selfish goals, he is truly convinced that it is the best for her. There are also several occasions when both make peace, even if temporarily, and spend time together. In Season 6 it is revealed that Trigon has other family members including his mother Nana, Uncle Grim and his triplet sons Russ, Lyle & Suge, which he does care for and treats them generally well.
  • Even if minor in comparison, Trigon occasionally shows some genuine respect towards the other four Titans despite it being overshadowed by his hate towards them. As he deep down values them as good companions for Raven and he can get along with them at times in the same way that with his daughter.
  • His affection towards Raven makes him feel remorse for his actions against her at times and in this case he tries to fix the damage that he caused, an example happens in "Lil' Dimples" when he helps Raven to defeat the demon that he makes her summon.
  • The main reason he can't be Silly NPE is can be considered On & Off since there are moments where he sets aside his differences with the Titans and acts genuinely well with them, he also sometimes helps them sometimes like in "I'm the Sauce" when he plays the "Seven Up" to make the rainy clouds happier.
  • He has moments when he is portrayed sympathetically such when he feels bad for the difficult relationship he has with his daughter (when he is genuinely remorseful), or in the movie when he is despised by the original Trigon just for being a joke of him, making his treason understandable.

Trivia[]

  • If Trigon wasn't On & Off he would be Silly Near Pure Evil as he would only slightly fail the standards.
