The Time Eater is the secondary antagonist of Sonic Generations and the overarching antagonist of its remaster Shadow Generations.
It is a large, mysterious, mech like entity who after being found by the recently defeated Dr. Eggman, he proceeds to take control of it and uses it to erase time in order to undo his previous defeats, along with his past self.
Its Evil Ranking[]
Its Villainous Deeds[]
- It arrives at both Modern and Classic Sonic's timelines and erases both of their time and capturing their friends.
- It knocks out Modern Sonic upon him trying to stop it.
- It traps Modern Sonic's friends in a limbo-like state, which according to Tails, is a fate worse than death.
- It reduces all of time to nothing but a bleak, white limbo that is devoid of any life.
- During their final encounter, it crushes both Sonics to near-death.
- Upon Modern and Classic turning Super Sonic, it tries to kill them a second time.
- In Sonic X Shadow Generations, it's indirectly responsible for Black Doom's actions as well as Mephiles' attempt to return to the timeline presumably to once again fuse with Iblis to become Solaris to destroy the multiverse.
Why Doesn't it Stand Out?[]
- While its actions of erasing all of time itself and trapping Sonic's friends in a fate worse than death could technically be enough to pass the baseline of the Sonic the Hedgehog series, its mind is being completely controlled by the Classic and Modern incarnations of Dr. Eggman, essentially making it a mech that is controlled by the two Eggmen. Its actions are more an extension of their actions rather than allowing it to stand out on its own due to the franchise's high heinous standards.
- Due to being a mech controlled by the Eggmen, it lacks any sufficient characterization, with the only possible traces being a few angry roars.
- Its crimes of petrifying Sonic's friends and leaving them in a limbo-like state while being entirely aware is arguably not played as badly as it could have been, as only Tails seems truly affected, meaning it seems to have fridge horror.
- It is possible that it is trying to prevent Mephiles from returning to existence due to the boss gate for Mephiles not only being hidden, but needing 4 keys to open, instead of the usual 3.
