What did I tell you about the duct tape?
~ Vogel abusing one of his victims.

Officer Timothy "Tim" Vogel, a.k.a. "The Seattle Strangler" is the main antagonist of the Criminal Minds pilot episode "Extreme Aggressor".

A misogynistic serial killer, he is responsible for abducting several women and holding them captive before raping and murdering them, eventually dumping their bodies with the aid of his submissive partner-in-crime Richard Slessman. Although overall a minor antagonist in the show, he is considered the show's first UnSub.

He was portrayed by Andrew Jackson.

His Evil Ranking[]

His Villainous Deeds[]

  • He is a misogynistic serial rapist and murderer and supposedly hates women for his sexual dysfunction. He also might have been a bully in school and helped the weaker so he could manipulate them into thinking they owe him.
  • Manipulated another sexual sadist, Richard Slessman, into helping with the kidnapping and rape of women by saving him in prison.
  • He has a very sadistic tendency to lure women into a car deal, knock them out, cover tape over their eyes and mouth, sodomize and rape them for 7 days, and strangle them to death with a belt and one of his victims being stabbed. At the end of the episode, he had at least 5 victims.
    • To make it worse, he sent the videos of his victims to Richard Slessman for him to get off to and he would intentionally not tie up the women completely so he could feel their struggle.
  • He got another prison guard to switch cars to allow him to strangle and dump his last woman before his eventual death, Heather Woodland.
  • In a standoff with Jason Gideon and Elle Greenaway, he used Woodland as a human shield but was only stopped when Vogel attempted to shoot Gideon for talking about his small penis.

Why Doesn't He Stand Out?[]

  • His rapes and tortures, while being bad enough for an M.O to pass bog standard torture, he still massively fails the heinous standards to more prolific UnSubs.

Trivia[]

Vogel is inspired by multiple real-life serial killers:

  • Ted Bundy, who was also active in Washington State; his M.O. also consisted of luring women with ruses and raping them with foreign objects.
  • Robert Lee Yates, a.k.a, "The Grocery Bag Killer" and "The Spokane Serial Killer", a serial killer of prostitutes in Washington State, who also with a job in the penitentiary system. Instead of tourniquets, he tied plastic grocery bags around the heads of the women he murdered.
  • Anthony Allen Shore, a.k.a. "The Tourniquet Killer", an executed serial rapist and murderer of women and girls in Houston, Texas, with a similar M.O. of strangling women and leaving the ligatures used tied around them after they were already dead; Shore also manually strangled the first woman he killed.
