Theon Greyjoy is one of deuteragonists in the A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R Martin. He is the son of Balon Greyjoy who was sent to Winterfell to be a hostage of Ned Stark after his father's failed rebellion. years later Theon was sent by the starks to his father to obtain Grejoy support in their conflict with the lannisters which led to him betraying them and deciding to take Winterfell which resulted in his torture at the hands of Ramsay Bolton.

He was portrayed by Alfie Allen.

  • Urged Robb to kill Jaime Lannister after he was taken prisoner during a battle.
  • Was completely apathetic when the captain's daughter was worried her father would punish her for having sex with him.
  • Betrayed His best friend Robb Stark and sided with his family against him.
  • Attacked Winterfell and forced Bran Stark to hand the castle over to him by threatening to harm its inhabitants.
  • After failing to find Bran and Rickon Theon has two peasant boys murdered to hide his failure.
  • His Winterfell's conquest failed by the two versions and cost the life of all the Greyjoy men and all the Winterfell man as Ramsay burned the city. this also pulling the "Red wedding" to get happen, as king Robb lost his allies in the north and had to approach the Frey.

Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]

  • He fails the heinous standards too much to others like his father or his uncle.
  • He also a honorable villain, as he respect Usha and giving her to escape or Ramsay as he thinking he try to help for him. For little times he tries to respect also Ser Rodrik But removed it shortly to desire his men.
  • In the show Theon is geninely greatful when he is "saved" by Ramsay and promises him a reward.
  • He has a tragedy as he was beaten up by his brothers in the books and was horribly treated by his family for things that weren't his fault in both versions. He also has insecurities about being a hostage that are played sympathetically.
  • Is disgusted by Ramsay's abuse of Sansa in the show and Jeyne Poole in the books.
  • Has a "Pet the dog" moment in the books where he gives his men a chance to leave Winterfell before Ser Rodrik arrives.
  • The horrible torture he suffers is played sympathetically and makes him a scapegoat.
  • In the books he is fond of Dagmer Cleftjaw who was like an uncle to him during his childhood.
  • He loved his family, especially him sister that help him. he even loved the family that took him captive, especially Robb, Sansa and finally also Bran that he sacrificed his life for him. He also was devastated by Robb death and also talk that "his real father lost his head in King's Landing".
  • He redeems himself in the show by saving Sansa from Myranda and from Ramsay and ultimately giving his life for Bran. Similarly in the books he assists in saving Jeyne Poole from further torture at Ramsay's hands.
