What is it about you peasants out here that makes everything, even your blood, so unremittingly dull?
~ The Marquis expressing his dislike for the peasants of France.

The Marquis is a minor antagonist of Castlevania Nocturne and a member of Erzsebet Bathory's cult. He is a well known member of the aristocracy in France and kept his position of power well throughout the years.

He is voiced by Jonathan Roumie in English and Yasuhiko Nemoto in Japanese.

His Evil Ranking[]

His Villainous Deeds[]

  • Through his years, he has been ruling parts of the aristocracy and hiding his nature as a vampire.
  • He has been sucking the blood of the many French peasants.
  • He sent the drained corspes to the Abbot so he can make night creatures for him.
  • He joined Erzsebet's cult and wants to help her conquer the world.
  • He attempted to kill Richter Belmont.
  • Olrox states that the Marquis only joined Erzsebet for opportunistic reasons and doesn't actually like his "Messiah."

Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]

  • While he passes the baseline due to his high kill count, he fails the heinous standard to Comte de Vaublanc, who owns a slave plantation and torments the slaves just keep them submissive towards his rule. While the Marquis can’t be compared to characters like Erzsebet Bathory and Drolta Tzuentes, he is a nobleman like Vaublanc yet doesn’t own a slave plantation.
  • He lacks some personality of his own to stand out besides being a typical elitist.
  • He loved his wife enough to involve her in his schemes. When he died she genuinely wanted to avenge him and nothing states this care was one sided.
