Tambourine is a supporting antagonist in the original Dragon Ball anime series. He is the unseen final antagonist of the Tenshinhan Saga and the secondary antagonist of the King Piccolo Saga.
He is one of King Piccolo's children, the archenemy of Krillin and a sadistic serial killer who was sent by his father to eradicate any martial artists that entered the last two World Martial Arts tournaments in order to prevent anyone from using the Evil Containment Wave to imprison him again and stop his reign of terror.
He was voiced by Ryusei Nakao in the Japanese version and Dameon Clarke in the English version.
His Evil Ranking[]
His Villainous Deeds[]
- He was shown desolating Earth in the past, killing numerous people and causing a huge wave of destruction.
- He broke into the building where Krillin (who was a child during that time) was at and killed him by kicking him in the head and crushing his frontal lobe.
- Not only was this the first time a villain managed to kill one of Goku's friends, let alone his best friend, but this also left a huge impact on both him and Krillin, as Tambourine appeared as an illusion/fear they were both fighting to train for the Tournament of Power, showing Tambourine's actions that day still continued to haunt them.
- This was also the reason Goku went into a rage as a Super Saiyan in the Frieza Saga, because thanks to Tambourine, Goku believed that it was genuinely impossible to revive Krillin after his death at the hands of Frieza.
- He stole the Four-Star Dragon Ball and the list of the martial artists that participated in the last two World Martial Arts tournaments.
- Upon confronting him, he destroyed the Flying Nimbus and beat Goku to near death during their battle and the only reason Goku survived was because Tambourine didn't check if he died or not.
- Under the orders of King Piccolo, he goes on a serial murder spree and kills multiple martial artists and other people in pretty gruesome ways, which include:
- Killing King Chappa by knocking him against the wall with his One-Hundred Arms technique and then proceeded to kill dozens of his disciples.
- Killing Pamput by kicking him in the face.
- Killing Nam in an unknown, but possibly unpleasant way.
- Tormenting and killing Bacterian by electrocuting him.
- Killing Man-Wolf by stabbing him with a spear and letting his corpse bleed out in a stream.
- Killing Giran by impaling him with his arm.
- Killing a father of a bear child by slicing his chest open with his claws after he congratulated him for saving him and his son from Giran and when the bear child asked him why he did that, he answered that he killed him for fun.
- He attempted to kill Yamcha and the only reason he stopped was because King Piccolo informed him about the death of Cymbal.
- He attempted to kill Goku and Yajirobe as revenge for them killing Cymbal.
- While he was created by King Piccolo to do his evil biting, Tambourine still shows great enjoyment in committing these actions and is completely willing to kill people who have nothing to do with his job, showing that he does indeed have a clear moral agency.
Why Doesn't He Stand Out?[]
- He massively fails the insanely high heinous standards of the Dragon Ball franchise to many other villains who have done far worse than him, such as Frieza, Majin Buu, Moro and Goku Black/Zamasu.
- Despite his sadistic nature, Tambourine genuinely cares about his family, being loyal to his father and willing to do anything he asked of him and caring about his younger brother, Cymbal, as he wanted to avenge his death by killing Goku and Yajirobe for what they did to him.
