I, Straizo, shall show you no mercy!
~ Straizo's catchphrase.
During the fight with Dio 50 years ago, I admit that I admired him... that power, that beauty, that immortality! I want the power of the Stone Mask for myself! Now that I've grown old, I want to become a being that surpasses all!
~ Straizo explains his motive of falling into villainy.

Straizo is a minor protagonist in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood and a minor antagonist in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Battle Tendency. He is a Hamon master who later betrays his allies in order to become a vampire and achieve immortality.

He is voiced by Nobuo Tobita in Japanese and by the late Dave Mallow in English.

His Evil Ranking[]

His Villainous Deeds[]

  • While initially being a hamon warrior who took part in defeating Dio Brando and raised Lisa Lisa, after witnessing Dio's immortality while he still becomes old, he grows a desire to become a vampire to remain youth himself. He even began to admire Dio himself, which subverted most of the redeeming qualities he had in Phantom Blood.
  • Betrays Speedwagon by slaughtering his entire research team, as well as his own students.
  • Nearly killed Speedwagon and uses the latter's blood to become a vampire by taking a Stone Mask from Santana's pillar, in order to become immortal himself, and then he left him for dead by tossing him into a river. This would result with Rudol von Stroheim and his Nazis finding and torturing Speedwagon for information about Santana.
  • He became a sworn enemy to the Joestar Family, mostly to Joseph Joestar and Erina Pendleton, as he planned to kill the former because he could put him down with his hamon.
  • He assaults and tries to kill to Joseph on the street.
  • After Joseph runs away from the street, he kidnaps an innocent female news reporter to force Joseph to fight him.
  • Pulls a tooth out from the woman to bait Joseph to approach him.
  • Even during his final moments, Straizo showed no remorse for his deeds, as he proudly proclaims that at least he'll go to Hell while being young.

Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]

  • While killing Speedwagon's entire research team allows him to easily pass the baseline, he eventually holds back on his resources too much to pass the JoJo franchise's high heinous standard:
    • As a Stone Mask vampire, he has similar resources with Dio Brando (in Phantom Blood), but Dio drained the blood of hundreds of people and infected them into zombie minions after becoming a vampire, even committing horrifying atrocities like transforming a mother into a zombie causing to eat her own baby.
    • Meanwhile, what Straizo does is just killing dozens of Speedwagon's research team members, trying to kill Speedwagon and Joseph and kidnapping a woman. He doesn't even resort to killing the woman, just pulls out her tooth instead.
    • What's more, it could be argued that his fighting skills and knowledge in Hamon gives him higher resources than Dio Brando in Phantom Blood.
  • Even though he subverted most of his redeeming qualities after he becomes a vampire, he still retains a sense of honor and would be affable to his opponents. He shows respect to Joseph's growth, and after Joseph defeats him, he suicides by using Hamon while telling Joseph the information about the Pillar Men, accepting his death with dignity.
