Soto is the main antagonist of Blue Sky Studios' 1st animated feature film Ice Age.
He is the deadly and dangerous leader of his pack. He was infatuated with revenge and planned on taking out a group of Neanderthal tribesmen and eating Roshan, their youngest child, as revenge for the murders of his fellow pack members done by the hands of the humans. He is also Diego's former master turned arch-nemesis and the reason he met and befriended Manfred and Sid in the first place.
He was voiced by Goran Višnjić.

- Before the events of the film, he was already waging a war against the Neanderthals and killed them as well, which caused voids on both sides, although it is not clear who started the war between him and the humans.
- He instructs Diego to take the baby of the leader of the people for him. This means that Soto himself has no qualms against killing infants, which is quite unique for the franchise since although there are other villains who are more heinous, none of them have specifically targetted infants like he did, apart from maybe Rudy and Gavin, but then again they were only doing it out of instinct rather than out of vengeance like Soto did, with nothing implying it's out of hunger like Rudy and Gavin.
- When the boy's mother jumps off the waterfall and Diego loses it, he threatens to kill Diego if he doesn't bring it back.
- He treats his surviving pack members terribly and even threatens to slaughter and cannibalize Diego if he fails to deliver Roshan), he is dedicated to stalking out his victims and striking against them in revenge for those who would wrong him.
- He sends Zeke and Oscar to spy on Diego. However Diego informs them about Manfred and Sid, causing Soto to plan to kill them first.
- He cooperates with Diego's ambush against Manny and Sid.
- He shows in a sadistic show about Lenny, one of his band members how the gang can effectively kill Lenny.
- When Diego takes Manny's side, Soto threatens to kill him first and in a fight between them defeats and seriously injures him, almost to the point of death.
- Before he finally defeats Diego he hears the baby and plans to attack him, though Manny seizes the moment to kill him.
Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- Although he passes the baseline with his war crimes, as well as having the unique crime of attempted infanticide, and it would be unfair to compare him to Gavin or Orson due to them having far higher resources, he fails the heinous standard to Captain Gutt who has similar resources but sadistically enslaved a group of guinea pigs and tried to kill Manny's group despite them reaching a safe haven.
- Apparently, he cared about the saber-toothed tiger who fell in the wars against the humans and he even shows some standards when the humans wear the furs of the fallen band members, which made him seek revenge.
