Something is the overarching antagonist of the OMORI franchise. It the arch-nemesis of Sunny and Basil, and the evil counterpart of his older sister Mari.
Its Evil Ranking[]
Its Villainous Deeds[]
- It spent 4 years tormenting Sunny, making Sunny completely anti-social and mentally unstable.
- It kidnaps headspace Basil which started most of the events of the game:
- Omori and his friends searching for Basil, resulting them fighting many enemies along the way.
- the party getting into fights with Captain Space Boyfriend, Sweetheart and other foes.
- Causing Hero to get kidnapped by Sweetheart and forced to participate on her show.
- Something would show up to scare Sunny/Omori out of headspace out of sadism several times.
- During one of the times it did this, this allowed Mr. Jawsum to trick Omori's friends into signing contracts which. traps them into last resort since Omori wasn't around to stop this. Making Something responsible for this to happen
- When Aubrey pushes Basil which forces Sunny to try to save Basil, Something begins tormenting Sunny which causes both him and Basil to almost drown and if Hero did not showed up to save them. Both Sunny and Basil would have died.
- Depending on your actions, if you don't save Basil and run home, it still continues to haunt Sunny until the day he dies. Which puts Sunny in a fate worse than death.
- Same applies if you save Basil or not, but give up in the fight with Omori, it drove Sunny to suicide.
- When Sunny choses to save Basil, Something blocks the door which prevents him from getting help in a attempt to make Sunny and Basil kill each other.
- It was the reason why the group broke up and why Aubrey became a delinquent.
- It attempts to kill Omori and his friends in the hikikomori route several times.
- Any headspace residents that gets send into the Black Space are corrupted into monsters by Something, putting them in a fate worse than death. This includes Abbi and Merci.
- When Sunny gets into a fight with Basil and hits him, dark particles are shown harming basil, implying that it was Something who is attacking Basil.
- Despite lacking it owns lines. It has clear characterization is shown when Something would sometimes repeat things Mari has said just to taunt Sunny and would take the form of Sunny's fears. It also has a sadistic smile when it takes the form of Sunny's fear in the dark and his fear of spiders. It is also persistent, stalking anywhere Sunny goes and in the natural ending, follows him until death. This makes Something's characterization very clear and shows how monstrous and cruel it is.
- While Something disappears in the good ending, it is too vague if it has any honor as it could be likely that it left Sunny alone because it noticed Sunny has move on his fears.
- While it can be argued it lacks agency due to being the embodiment of Sunny's trauma, this is too ambiguous but even if it is true. it shows clear mortal agency.
- Nothing suggests it lacks agency.
- Basil points out that he could see Something behind Sunny, showing that it is more than just a hallucination.
- It speaks in a friendly tone when using Mari's voice, showing it knows how to act good
- being able to take the form of Sunny's heroic sister at the end of its final battle to scare Sunny
- While it can be argued Sweetheart has done worse, Something has far less resources since Sweetheart has a castle and her own servants to serve her.
- Something is able to pass the baseline due to its personal villainy to Sunny, its actions affecting Sunny and the others in the real world, causing most of the events of headspace to happen, and attempting to ruin Sunny's life one way or another.
Why It Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- It fails the Heinous Standards to Omori who did worse than it.
