“ | If fighting is sure to result in victory, then you must fight! ...Sun Tzu said that, and I'd say he knows a little more about fighting than you do pal, because he invented it. And then he perfected it so that no living man could best him in the ring of honor! Then, he used his fight money to buy two of every animal on Earth, and then he herded them onto a boat, and then he beat the crap out of every single one! *sinister laugh* And from that day forward, anytime a bunch of animals are together in one place, it's called a ZOO! ...Unless it's a farm! | „ |

“ | Though he wanted desperately to fight in World War 2, the Soldier was rejected from every branch of the U.S. military. Undaunted, he bought his own ticket to Europe. After arriving and finally locating Poland, the Soldier taught himself how to load and fire a variety of weapons before embarking on a Nazi killing spree for which he was awarded several medals that he designed and made himself. His rampage ended immediately upon hearing about the end of the war in 1949. | „ |

~ Soldier's official motto |
The Soldier, also referred to as "Jane Doe" or "Mister Jane Doe", is one of the main protagonists from the 2007 video game Team Fortress 2, serving as one of the nine playable classes.
A crazed patriot from Midwest, USA, he is tough, durable, and well-armed, being capable on both offense and defense and is also a great starter class for players so that they could be familiar with Team Fortress 2. Being xenophobic and jingoistic, the Soldier has an extreme hatred of foreigners and hippies.
The Soldier was voiced by the late Rick May, who also voiced Andross in Star Fox 64, with Nolan North giving one brief line in "Expiration Date".
His Evil Ranking[]
His Villainous Deeds[]
- In Meet the Soldier, he brutally kills off the members of the BLU Team by blowing them up with his rocket launcher.
- He also kills the Spy by punching him hard with his fist.
- At the end of the short, it is shown that he uses the heads of his killed enemies as trophies.
- This also shows that he's not afraid to assist in killing off the other mercs.
- In Meet the Spy, he also brutally kills off the BLU Spy by blowing his head off with a shotgun,
- In Expiration Date, he admitted to killing off the BLU Team and he also took their briefcase.
- In Jungle Inferno, he trespasses into Yeti Park even when it's stated on the sign that it's private property.
- At the end of Jungle Inferno, he assists in killing the BLU Team with the rest of the RED Team.
- In his past, he went on a killing spree and killed off dozens to hundreds of people.
- In a voice line he admits to killing a man in Germany after the end of World War II.
Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- Just like all of the other Team Fortress 2 mercs, he is on & off and can do some admirable actions sometimes.
- Like everything else in the game, he is also played for laughs at times.
- He has also shown to be loyal to his team at times as he wants them to win the game.
- His worst action of going on a "Nazi" killing spree in Poland is completely offscreen and is only mentioned in his character description.
- His moral agency is highly questionable considering not just his dimwitted behavior, but also his nationalism, which borders on delusional. Unlike some of the more malicious mercs who have worked as contract killers outside of the in-game conflict, the Soldier does genuinely appear to think he is doing the right thing in most cases.
- He genuinely loves Zhanna and their children and admires their fighting abilities. He additionally does view Merasmus as his best friend despite their rivalry.
