Smiler has been hunted down for the soul to be collected for the following reason(s): she's bog-standard Please discuss it on the talk page for this article. |
“ | Here's how it works. It's nothing fancy. Wait a minute! It's really fancy! You each have your own cube on the emoji bar. If Alex chooses you, should you be so lucky, your cube will light up... The scanner will scan you. And that scan will be sent right up to Alex's text box. And let me tell you guys, there is nothing like getting scanned for the first time. [giggles] You're gonna love it. | „ |

“ | If you get deleted, (MUFFLED) you don't have to worry about what your purpose is or the future or why you're such a malfunction. 'Cause you're deleted, right? All right, good talk. - Bots! (LAUGHS) | „ |
~ Smiler Threatening to deleted Gene. |
Smiler is the main antagonist of Sony Pictures Animation's 17th full-length featured film The Emoji Movie.
She was the former leader of the Emojis from Textopolis who plans on getting rid of Gene Meh for his perceived malfunction, which gives him a multi-expressive ability, as an emoji himself. Such phenomenon got increased after he and his friends Hi-5 and Jailbreak were roaming around Alex's smartphone, where chaos ensues.
She was voiced by Maya Rudolph.
Her Evil Ranking[]
Her Villainous Deeds[]
- Giving the number of killer robots she has and her general distain for malfunction emojis, she rules over Textopolis with a lot of force and it's likely that she deleted other emojis other than just Gene.
- When Gene made a mistake and displayed other emotions other than meh, Smiler immediately attempted to delete him instead of just firing him or finding any other solution.
- When Gene tries to escape from her, she sends her army of bots after him.
- It was seen that she sees whatever her bots see, and had her bots follow Gene's parents.
- She gave one of her bots an illegal upgrade and intended to use it to delete Gene in front of everyone in Textopolis.
- She contacts Gene through her bot and lies to him that she wants them to work out their differences, and then when thinking it's off, she shows sadistic delight in the fact she'll delete Gene in front of everyone.
- When Mel Meh comes and attempts to stop her from deleting his son and says he has the same malfunction his son has, she attempts to delete him as well.
- When the poop emoji said that she is going too far, she intimidates him into silence.
- Overall, she believes that emojis can't be more than what they were created for and sees the other emojis as tools that she can easily get rid of if they fail to do their job.
Why She Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- She's a bog-standard "Kill the Hero" villain and her deleting other emojis was never actually confirmed.
- She has some comedic moments that detract from her villainy.
- She's somewhat on an extremist as while it doesn't justify her actions, she genuinely believes that if she'll delete Gene, it would prevent their world from getting wiped. Though, her ruthless nature makes it a slightly minor prevention.
