~ Sir Pentious, to Cherri Bomb and Angel Dust, when asked if his hat was alive and most famous quote. |
Sir Pentious is a major character in the adult animated series Hazbin Hotel. He is an inventor and a snake demon who plans to take over Hell and the former rival-turned-love interest of Cherri Bomb.
He was voiced by Will Stamper in the pilot and by Alex Brightman (who also voices Beetlejuice in both the musical of the same name and in Teen Titans Go) in the series.
His Evil Ranking[]
His Villainous Deeds[]
- He attempted to take over Hell to make a name for himself and did so by becoming a terrorist.
- He has engaged in turf wars against Cherri Bomb. While Cherri and Angel also involved themselves in the turf wars, it was he who instigated the conflicts.
- Prior to his change in villany, he was extremely abusive towards his Egg Boiz, calling them "Fried Chicken Fetuses" and squishing one to the point that its shell broke.
- He tried to kill Angel Dust, Cherri Bomb and Alastor on several occassions.
- He nearly blew up the Hazbin Hotel and everyone in it on his search for Alastor using a death ray that was apparently so dangerous that Adam had to stop it immediately. And he attempted to do so twice.
- He initially showed up at the Hotel formally to falsely address his hopes of redemption to Charlie, when really, he was an undercover spy from the Vees to get information they wanted.
Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- While comparing him to characters like Adam and Sera would be unfair, he fails the heinous standards to characters like Blitzo, Moxxie, Millie, and Crimson who succeeded in killing countless people on a frequent basis despite being below Pentious in Hell's hierarchy.
- He cares for his Egg Minions greatly and loves them as if they were his children, as he was heartbroken at having to be separated from them, and when he was finally allowed to have them back by the hotel staff, he embraced the eggs in a parental manner.
- He considers the residents of the Hazbin Hotel as friends, being able to sacrifice himself for them to prevent Adam from killing them.
- He genuinely loves and cares about Cherri Bomb, wanting to ask her out but failing at every turn. In the Season 1 finale, he finally confessed his love for her and the two kiss each other.
- He isn’t taken seriously at all as a villain. Many of his comedic instances come from his over-the-top wanna be mad guy mindset and one-sided rivalry with Alastor that result in his pathetic defeats.
- His death is treated with sympathy since the characters are sad to see him die trying to protect them, especially Angel Dust and Husk (although they do not know that he is in Heaven).
- Despite initially being a spy in the hotel, he eventually redeemed himself when Charlie saw the Vees disown him, specifically Vox who told him to commit suicide. His redemption stayed true when he sacrificed himself trying to stop Adam, and said redemption was further hammered home when he was resurrected as an angel in Heaven as a result.
Trivia[]
- Pentious currently holds the record of having the highest heinous standards for a normal sinner due to his prompting of turf wars and his two attempted mass murders of the inhabitants of the Hazbin Hotel with his lazer gun. The latter two crimes in particular are what elevate him from a bog-standard "kill-the-heroes" style villain to a legitimately heinous terrorist.
