	~ Shere Khan, jokingly, but incredulous, at Mowgli not knowing why he should run from him.

Shere Khan is the main antagonist of Disney's The Jungle Book franchise.

In the first film, he was voiced by the late George Sanders; his singing voice was provided by the late Bill Lee; and his roars were provided by the late Jimmy MacDonald. In the second film, he was voiced by the late Tony Jay (who also voiced Toplofty in An American Tail: The Treasure of Manhattan Island).

He interrogated Kaa for information over Mowgli's whereabouts in a subtle yet threatening way.
When he finally found Mowgli, he gave him a 10-second head start to run away, but when Mowgli prepared for battle, he skipped through the numbers and attacked him.
He nearly killed Baloo.

The Jungle Book 2[]

He broke into the Man-Village to kill Mowgli.
He interrogated Kaa to find out where Mowgli is once more, even going as far as to threaten him in a more blatant way. To make matters worse, he completely ignored his truthful pleas that he was completely oblivious to Mowgli's whereabouts.
He attacked a vulture named Lucky just for teasing him.
He attempted to kill Mowgli, Shanti and Ranjan.
He threatened to kill Shanti in order to get Mowgli to show himself.

Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]

He is very bog-standard, as all he does is try to kill the heroes.
He cared for his grandmother when he was just a cub, and he may even be haunted by his loved ones’ deaths.
He was relatively polite when interrogating Kaa in the first film.
He gave Mowgli a chance to have a head start, only skipping after Mowgli attacked him.
His reason to hate mankind isn't completely illogical, considering that tigers are among the world's most endangered species because of mankind hunting them and destroying their habitats. Even Bagheera acknowledged that Shere Khan's hatred of humans came a traumatic experience (what the experience was is unknown) and the fact that he has been a primary target for hunters for a long time.
