Shenzi, Banzai and Ed are major antagonists in Disney's The Lion King franchise. They are members of a clan of hyenas who serve as Scar's minions, aiding him in his takeover of Pride Rock. They are also the archenemies of Timon, Pumbaa, and Zazu.
In the films, Shenzi was voiced by Whoopi Goldberg (who also voiced Stretch in Toy Story 3, and portrayed Janette Grayson in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit), Banzai was voiced by Cheech Marin, and Ed was voiced by Jim Cummings. In The Lion King's Timon & Pumbaa, Shenzi was recast to Tress MacNeille, while Banzai was recast to Rob Paulsen.

The Lion King[]
- They attempt to eat Simba and Nala for trespassing into the Elephant Graveyard, despite them only being mere cubs.
- They throw Zazu into a geyser.
- They cheer for Scar when he announces his plan to kill Mufasa and Simba.
- They help Scar take down Mufasa by creating the stampede of wildebeest that tramples him to death.
- They attempt to kill Simba again, only sparing him due to wanting to avoid the thorns and coming to the conclusion that he will starve to death in the desert anyway, but they swear to kill him if he ever returns to the Pride Lands.
- They assist Scar in taking over the Pride Lands and overhunt until it becomes a barren wasteland.
- They nearly eat Zazu when there is no more food.
- They attempt to kill Timon and Pumbaa when they use themselves as bait.
- They fight for Scar after his lies are exposed.
- They mockingly call Pumbaa a pig.
- When Scar begs for mercy after his defeat by Simba, they confront him before eating him alive, although this is not a true act of redemption as they did it simply to get back at him calling them the main problem to Simba's face.

The Lion King 1½[]
- They attempt to eat some Timon's colony when he gets distracted while on guard duty.
- When Timon and Pumbaa tell them an offensive joke about hyenas, they attempt to eat them, Ma, and Uncle Max.
Why They Don't Stand Out?[]
- While they cross the general baseline by attempting to eat Simba and Nala as cubs and successful help Scar kill Mufasa, they fail the heinous standards to the latter, as their worst crimes were done under his orders. They also fail the heinous standards to Zira, who was arguably more vicious, dangerous and destructive than Scar was when he was alive, and unlike him, did nothing to hide her villainy. They even fail to their descendent, Janja, who caused lots of chaos throughout the Pride Lands. These three all had relatively similar (if not lower) resources.
- They are played for laughs numerous times making them too comedic for NPE.
- Despite their hatred towards Mufasa, they show standards when Scar reveals his selfishness saying that Mufasa was a better king than Scar was.
- They had grown tired of the way Scar ruled (as there was little (if any) food and water) and possibly had remorse for helping kill Mufasa, believing they were better off during his reign.
- Although they mostly abuse and argue with each other, they seem to still care about each other and their clan, a good example would be in The Lion King's Timon and Pumbaa, when Martin Partin kicks Ed, Shenzi and Banzai go catch him.
