~ Scar |
Taka, later known as Scar, is the main antagonist of Disney's 2019 remake film The Lion King and the deuteragonist of its 2024 prequel/sequel Mufasa: The Lion King.
He is a vengeful lion who wants to become the ruler of the Pride Lands.
Scar is voiced by Chiwetel Ejiofor.
His Evil Ranking[]
His Villainous Deeds[]
- While he was a nice cub, he subverts this after gaining a scar and becomes power hungry.
- He tried to kill Mufasa with the outsiders, simply because he wanted Sarabi for himself, not viewing her as another being but instead a trophy to take.
- He wanted to eat Zazu alive for telling him about Mufasa out of spite and sadism and later banished him from the Pride Lands.
- He murdered Mufasa by dropping him into a stampede in front of his son Simba.
- Although they are not biologically related unlike their animated counterparts, this is still a vile act as they grew up together and were they saw each other as brothers.
- He took over the Pride Lands and caused a few deaths of animals, possibly because they never obeyed him.
- He tried to make Sarabi his queen because he lusted for her, even telling her get over the death of Mufasa and even attacked her for refusing.
- He tried to stop Simba from claiming the throne by blaming him for Mufasaās death.
- He tried to get Simba killed by Hyenas after getting outed for his lies.
- While he did have awkward moments that were played for laughs, these are all subverted as soon as he became a villain.
Why Doesnāt He Stand Out?[]
- Although his actions pass the baseline, he ultimately fails the heinous standard to Kiros, who committed genocide with less resources.
- He is played for sympathy many times throughout Mufasa: The Lion King, as he was supposed to be king but was completely wronged out of his destiny due to his father's death.
- He loves his mother and shows concern for her, and for his father as well.
- He showed genuine standards against Kiros and even betrays him.
- He felt remorse, accepted he didnāt deserve Sarabi and tried to redeem himself but only continued his villainy because Mufasa disowned him despite Taka saving his life, becoming a ruthless tyrant as he effectively had no choice.
- This makes him tragic and a scapegoat as he was never allowed to change and while he did cause deaths, it isnāt enough to outweigh the constant mistreatment he got when he was young. Even as an adult he's seen eating leftovers from Mufasa which caused him to become very thin even for a lion and causing him from slowly dying due to lack of food despite everything Taka/Scar did for him years before such as saving him and allowing him to have him adopted.
Trivia[]
- He was originally considered Pure Evil like his original counterpart until the release of Mufasa: The Lion King, which gave him a sympathetic backstory and raised the heinous standard so much that he failed it to Kiros.
- He is the only incarnation of Scar who isn't Pure Evil or Near Pure Evil.
