~ Sasha plans her revenge on Anne. |
Sasha Waybright is one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside Captain Grime) of the Disney Channel animated series Amphibia.
Despite being one of Anne Boonchuy's childhood best friends and one of the show's protagonists, Sasha had a very villainous beginning, by helping Toad Army Captain Grime in his plans to control Frog Valley. But this led for her and Anne to go separate ways, becoming her archenemy, with Sasha wanting revenge on her and Plantar family. But she ultimately realized how controllable and bullish she was towards Anne and ultimately redeemed herself, now wanting to fix her friendship with Anne and Marcy.
She was voiced by Anna Akana.
Her Evil Ranking[]
Her Villainous Deeds[]
- Before being transported to Amphibia, Sasha was already a bad person from the beginning, always breaking the rules and constantly skipping classes. She's also shown to act somewhat bullish and controllable towards Anne and apathetic towards Marcy (even though she still cared for them).
- However, her apathy towards Marcy led to her becoming selfish and getting them transported to Amphibia in the first place when the two of them encouraged Anne to steal the Calamity Box from the store, making her partially responsible for kickstarting the events of the series.
- Crushed down a bug for trying to eat her food.
- Became lieutenant in Captain Grime's fraction of the Toad Army, aiding him in his plan to support oppressive rule in Frog Valley, even being clearly aware of that.
- After discovering that Hop Pop's run for mayor of Wartwood is the main reason for the rebellion in the Valley, Sasha gave Grime an idea of hosting a party for the citizens, only for Hop Pop to be publicly executed by feeding him to a giant flytrap.
- When Sprig fired a mudball at her with his slingshot and called her a bully, Sasha attempted to kill him in cold blood.
- Shown to be condescending towards the frogs such as the Plantars and the Wartwood citizens, not even bothering to call them "slimy" without second thoughts.
- Her and Grime's actions has caused Anne to be traumatized over the events, leading her to developed her fear of losing her loved ones and also having a trust issues. Sprig also remembering the events that led him to initially distrusts Marcy when they first met, but this was before discovering her selfishly kick-staring the series in the first place.
- Rallied the Toad Army into overthrowing King Andrias and having the toads rule the rest of Amphibia. Once she reveals her intentions in Newtopia, Sasha threatens to destroy the Calamity Box, despite it being the only way for her to return to Earth, wanting to take over Amphibia instead. Even after everything they've been through, she also betrayed Anne and Marcy in favor of taking over Newtopia, along with her second chance of being friends again, being thrown out the window. She didn't even show remorse at first until discovering Andrias' true intentions is revealed.
- This would even lead to her being indirectly responsible for most of the events that happened in "True Colors", since this causes Anne to be fed up with Sasha because of her betrayal and snaps at her. She also refuses to listen to her warnings about Andrias' true nature, which almost gave into her anger and hatred. Even though she never meant for this to happen, she's still indirectly responsible for everything Andrias did to her and the others, especially since Anne and Marcy almost die at the hands of Andrias.
- Once Anne ended her friendship with her, Sasha tried to send her back to Earth against her own choice, even taking a bit of sadism in separating her from the Plantars, possibly making Anne know what she feels like if she lost them, just like she lost her parents.
- While she does have plenty of comedic moments throughout first two seasons like Sprig throwing a mudball at her, wasn't pleased of seeing Grime out of shape or the Plantars make fun of her, she doesn't take it very well when something bad happens to her, proving that none of them detracts from her villainy and is taken seriously unlike Grime.
Why She Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- While she was the most personal enemy of Anne before the latter met King Andrias, Sasha fails the heinous standard of the show to Curator Ponds, Teddy and Martha who all do worse than her with lesser resources.
- She is incredibly tragic, as it was revealed in "Froggy Little Christmas" that her parents are either divorced or separated, which makes it clear that this somehow affected her mental health. Upon being transported into Amphibia, she was falsely imprisoned by the Toad Army and thought that Anne had betrayed her when she chose the Plantars and Wartwood instead of her, before discovering Marcy's selfish plan to strand them in Amphibia, making her believe that their friendship was broken.
- She's insecure, as she believed that the Plantars turned Anne against her hand and thought that she'd never be friends with Anne anymore. She was even willing to let herself fall from Toad Tower out of insecurity.
- She is caring and protective of some people:
- Despite some twisted manner, Sasha does care for Anne and Marcy. She had a good intention of finding a way to get her and her friends back home. Before the invasion of Newtopia, she had already supported them in Wartwood and the third temple. She also showed regret over betraying them in Newtopia, before making up with them in Season 3.
- Shaped Grime into being a better person and saved the Toad Army from the herons, despite being imprisoned by them. Sasha herself also developed care for Grime, as she trained endlessly to protect him when he wasn't in fighting shape and was horrified when Grime lost his left arm while saving her from Darcy. Given how Grime points out that she lost to Anne and stood up to her, Sasha later admits that she doesn't want to lose him in order to prevent him from having the same fate as her.
- She clearly did cared for Percy and Braddock despite her demanding behavior towards them. She also regretfully let them quit the Toad Army after seeing her error of putting them in danger. Even after she redeemed herself, she tell Grime to find and tell them she'll miss them.
- Despite her manipulative and controlling tendencies, she is very affable towards others, especially to Grime, Anne and Marcy.
- Showed remorse in some of her acts, like allowing Percy and Braddock to leave her, after seeing how far she pushed them to get Barrel's Warhammer.
- Aside from this, she attempts to turn back several times after realizing how she treated others, but is pushed back to her villainy due to her cold bitterness or on occasions.
- She is shown to have standards, such as when she and Grime became horrified when they found out about Andrias' true intentions and she became disgusted at Marcy for selfishly kickstarting the whole series by sending themselves to Amphibia in the first place.
- In Season 3, she starts feeling bad about the things she had done when she and Grime flee to Wartwood and is surprised to see its citizens treating them with kindness. She would later ultimately redeem herself and express great remorse over her past mistakes after reading Anne's journal, swearing to protect Wartwood from Andrias' forces.
