Sage is a major antagonist in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, specifically serving as the deuteragonist of Sonic Frontiers.
She was built as a program by none other than Eggman himself in order to protect him from threats and to help him out in his evil schemes. She starts off as nothing more than a naive AI who believes that Sonic's actions harm the environment rather than benefit it, but it is through the course of the game, with her keeping constant tabs on Sonic, that her whole mindset is put into question, and it is soon that she begins to envy Sonic and the friendships he has created, and seemingly yearns for a close bond with Eggman as well.
It is towards the end of the game, with her character arc seemingly complete (for now anyway), that she ultimately fulfills her purpose as Eggman's protector and sacrifices herself to save the universe from being consumed by the chaotic evil entity that is The End.
She is voiced by Megumi Hayashibara in Japanese and by Ryan Bartley in English.
Her Evil Ranking[]
Her Villainous Deeds[]
- As shown in the prologue, she was the one who trapped Knuckles the Echidna on Ares Island. She also captures Tails and Amy in order to discount external variables when protecting Eggman and freeing him from Cyber Space.
- Angered Giganto, to which they would throw Sonic into several structures, effectively knocking him out.
- Angered the Wyvern and had them chase Sonic in order to kill him.
- Angered the Knight in order to see how Sonic would survive against it.
- Even her most heroic actions such as saving the universe from The End were done so that Eggman could rule the world afterward.
Why Doesn't She Stand Out?[]
- She is bog-standard, with her worst act action being a generic kill-the-hero act, despite having the resources to do far worse.
- To say she fails Sonic's heinous standard is a massive understatement.
- She cares very deeply for Eggman, with her aiming to impress him and seeing him as a father figure.
- She is On & Off as she plays a heroic role for genuinely altruistic reasons at the end of Frontiers.
- She is deeply tragic, as she wants to feel the way physical beings do more than anything else.
- She displays respect towards Sonic for his ambitious attitude, which becomes more noticeable and frequent after the two start working together to fight The End.
- In the Final Horizon DLC, she brings Sonic's friends back before having them collect the Chaos Emeralds so that they could come up with a more foolproof way of defeating The End.
