Eh, relax guy!
~ Saddam Hussein's former catchphrase.
I like to kill. I like to maim. Yes, I'm insane, but it's okay cause I CAN CHANGE!
~ Saddam Hussein singing to Satan while lying about how he can change.
Satan: My time has come.
Saddam: YOU ARE ALL REALLY F*CKED NOW!
~ Saddam Hussein as he returns to Earth and his most infamous quote.

Saddam Hussein is a major antagonist in the South Park franchise. He is the former president of Iraq as well as the lover of Satan. However, this relationship came to an end after Saddam's continual abuse finally lead to Satan killing him.

He was voiced by series co-creator Matt Stone.

His Evil Ranking[]

His Villainous Deeds[]

  • In "Tom's Rhinoplasty", his affair with Ms. Ellen indirectly leads her to be tracked down by Iraqi soldiers in the United States of America and executed by being thrown into a rocket hurled to the sun. While it's possible that Saddam didn't order her death, he never mentions her in his appearances, so it's more than likely that he didn't care at all for her fate.
  • In "Terrance and Phillip in Not Without my Anus", he convinces Scott the Dick to assist him in his plot to take over the world by starting first with Canada through a scheme that involves sending Terrance and Phillip, Scott's rivals, to Tehran, Iran, promising to have them shot gunned and quartered.
    • Then he makes a bunch of new laws, one of which being "sing the Iraq national anthem, or get shot in the head", which is pretty explicit enough to not be Fridge Horror, and even if it was, it's somewhat relevant to the plot as later Saddam recruits Celine Dion to do so at the Canada Stadium during a Rough Riders game to make his occupation official, uncaring that the American government threatened to bomb Iran if he doesn't back off, which later leads to Saddam's defeat using farts like it's nuclear warfare.
  • Following his first death, he is sent to Hell and becomes Satan's new lover. However, while Satan desires an affective relationship, Saddam just uses him to have sex and treats him badly, forcing himself on Satan most of the time. In the long run, this hurt Satan's self-esteem, leading him to seek "bad boys" for sex.
  • In South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut, he plots with Satan to take advantage of the USA-Canada war and the deaths of Terrance and Phillip at Sheila Broflovski's hands to go back to the realm of the living and take over the world, sending demons after all the surviving soldiers in the battlefield, making them all bow down to him until Satan has had enough of his abuse. In his villain song he claims that he can change, but saying that he can change is not the same as saying that he will change.
    • He is also shown as delighting himself in a sexual way while torturing Kenny McCormick in Hell, with Satan implying that this isn't the first time he does that.
    • While singing "I Can Change", he suddenly grabs one of his female dancers and out of nowhere kills her by snapping her back with his knee, just as he is saying in his lyrics that he enjoys to kill and maim.
  • In "Do the Handicapped Go to Hell?", he returns to Satan's home so he can go back to abuse him and likely enjoy his privileges as the ruler of Hell, which fails due to Satan having found a new boyfriend named Chris. Saddam then tries to get rid of Chris with a potato bomb, mocks him for the accidental way in which Chris died, inappropriately touches Satan while dining with him and Chris and tries to convinces Satan to cheat on Chris with him.
  • In "Probably", he seduces Satan with alcohol and a porn video, leading him to rape an intoxicated Satan while sleeping. He then spends most of the time killing Chris in brutal ways despite Chris trying to be friends with him, though all his attempts fail due to everyone in Hell never staying dead. This culminated in Satan banishing Saddam to Heaven to finally get rid of him from his life.
    • Despite that the sexual encounter he had with Satan happened offscreen, the aftermath is shown, and it apparently involved in some ways a goat, making the two of them zoophiles.
  • In "A Ladder to Heaven", he tricks God into believing that he is building a chocolate chip factory in Heaven when in reality he is building chemical weapons of mass destruction to sell on Earth. He even mocks God for believing in his ruse.
  • In "Krazy Kripples", after somehow returning to Earth, he joins Christopher Reeve's Legion of Doom to get rid of Gene Hackman, with Reeve choosing him for his traitorous ways, desires to conquer the world and hatred for everything good, but he instead proposes to kill all those unfaithful in their romantic relationships, which is ironically hypocritical from his part as previously explained.
  • In "It's Christmas on Canada!", he poses as the new Prime Minister of Canada and dictates random laws with the purpose to ruin several lives for the sake of it, like establishing a law to make all adopted Canadian children return to Canada (which causes the Broflovskis to lose Ike's custody for a while to his biological parents), cuts the funding of the Canadian mounted police so they would have to use sheep instead of horses, banning the French-Canadians from drinking wine and forbidding the Newfoundlanders to practice sodomy. When confronted by the Boys, he sadistically rejects Kyle's appeal to change his laws as he enjoys the suffering of his enemies and graphically blasts Kenny, splattering his remains to his friends.

Why Doesn't He Stands Out?[]

  • While he's practically based on his real counterpart and pretty terrible in general, his implied action of killing thousands of people just relies on Fridge Horror as it was never confirmed that he did that, and he also relies on his resources to do so.
  • Although his takeover of earth in "Terrance and Phillip in Not Without my Anus" would've been heinous enough for him to pass the Heinous Standards, it is ultimately non-canon as it is an April Fools special.
  • Just like any other characters in the franchise, he is too comedic to be PE or NPE and he isn't meant to be taken seriously, as he is a parody of the real-life dictator, being played for laughs constantly, though he is a relatively realistic example of an abusive boyfriend.

Trivia[]

  • According to Trey Parker in the DVD commentary track of South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut, Saddam Hussein was originally planned to return in the thirteenth season of South Park, but for unknown reasons, this didn't come to pass. Had his planned return not been scrapped, it's possible that his status as VB would change.
  • He was originally Inconsistently Heinous but was moved due to fridge horror.
