SCP-173 is a supporting antagonist in the SCP Mythos. It is a statue which can move at a very high speed and can snap the neck of any life form.
It is one of the most well-known SCPs of all time and the first one ever written. It is also the main antagonist of SCP - Containment Breach and a playable character in SCP: Secret Laboratory.

- It is one of the most feared and dangerous SCP's in the whole foundation to the point where researchers have been haunted by its appearance and actions. It's uncanny nature and its tendency to snap the necks (or strangle) of anyone who isn't watching it.
- It prefers to kill its victims by snapping their necks or by strangulation, and it has killed so many people the Foundation can't keep track of it.
- The only way to survive it is to keep your eyes on it for as long as possible without blinking. It's easier with more people, which the Foundation bring 3 D-class personnel to clean the containment area on daily basis, this shows that 173 has the ability will end the world as we know it.
- It has breached containment multiple times, one of which was when it duplicated itself and it almost could have ended the world if the Foundation didn't miraculously stop it.
- In SCP Containment Breach, a game based on the SCP Foundation universe, it kills 2 D-Classes then a guard upstairs. It later seen killing a scientist and janitor. Throughout the game, it is a very persistent threat that hunts after the playable protagonist in order to kill them.
- In the tale "Crunch", 173 is shown to be sadistic, it shows it breaks people's neck to enjoy hearing their neck breaking.
- When a guy entered 173's room and looked away on purpose, SCP-173 refused to kill him out of cruel mercy.
- In the revised entry, 173 would duplicate itself, it would breach containment and has killed over 500,000 civilians which resulted SCP Foundation secrecy being breached and 173 to commit other heinous deeds.
- Dr. Phillips, Mathews, Clef Gears , and Kondraki were all killed by 173.
- Has destroyed various facility sites along the way.
- Has killed Dr. Bright 37 times and what's even worse is that Dr. Bright pointed out that 173 could smell him regardless of the body he was in which shows 173 was very persistent in killing Dr. Bright.
- Brutally tore apart SCP 682. What makes this act even more horrifying is that nothing was said that 682 regenerated from this, meaning that 173 permanently killed 682.
- It has started a XK scenario in attempt to wipe out all of humanity.
- Wales and United Kingdom were forced to be bombed which killed everyone there in order to stop SCP 173 from spreading every else and it was made clear that if they weren't bombed, SCP 173 would have spread to the point where it would have killed all of humanity.
