“ | You have forgotten that our people were born in blood... the blood of the Carja! | „ |
~ Regalla's declaration. |
Regalla is one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside Erik Visser) of Horizon Forbidden West.
She is a former Marshal of the Tenakth tribe and a former member of the Desert Clan who would become the leader of a splinter faction of Tenakth Rebels.
In reality, Sylens would create and use the rebel Tenakth army as means for Regalla to usurp Hekarro's position as the Chief, uniting all of the three clans, albeit ruthlessly, for the incoming conflict: launching an attack on the Far Zenith base. However, her plans would be foiled by the Nora Huntress Aloy, and she was either killed by Aloy or by a Specter drone during the attack on the Zenith base.
She was voiced by Angela Bassett.
Her Evil Ranking[]
Her Villainous Deeds[]
- After her brothers were killed by Jiran, Regalla was driven with vengeance that resulted in her turning against her own tribe, so that she would orchestrate the destruction of Carja as a form of retaliation.
- Attempted to kill Hekarro during a duel to the death, which drove her to creating a splinter rebel faction of her own to spite her former chief.
- When Sylens came to her aid, she and Asera later accept his own deal of arming her rebel faction with overridden machines and weapons, so that she would use it to attack the main Tenakth tribe and kill Hekarro as part of the deal. Though in reality, she would usurp Hekarro to gather the three Tenakth clans as part of Sylens' plan to fight the Far Zenith in a suicide attack.
- Launched an attack of the Embassy with her rebel faction, killing Nozar, Fashav and the other marshals of the Sky Clan, leading to Tekotteh and the entire Sky Clan (sans Kotallo) themselves to refuse Hekarro's plea of joining the Kulrut out of paranoia.
- Sent her army and attack the Memorial Grove in two separate occasions, but were ultimately foiled by Aloy.
- Fought Aloy on a duel to the death in her final attempt to gain revenge against her for foiling her plans of killing Hekarro.
Why She Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- Despite committing acts of terrorism against her own tribe, which would put the entire Tenakth at risk, her acts of terrorism are not unique for the franchise. It doesn't help that most of her heinous acts are fuelled by Sylens and she is unaware of Sylens' true machinations, thereby making her more of a generic terrorist than anything. In contrast, there's Dervahl, another terrorist, who has less resources than Regalla, yet somehow he did much worse than her in that said act, as he attempted to blow up Meridian for petty and personal reasons, as well as torturing and killing Ersa and attempting to assassinate Avad, as means to gain revenge against Jiran and the Carja.
- She fails the heinous standards to many villains including Dervahl, Asera, Vezreh, Bahavas, Zaid, Ceo, Rasgrund and Helis, with the latter four already failing the standards of the franchise.
- She has a tragic backstory: Jiran murdered both her younger brothers during his Red Raids-era ruling, ultimately putting her in the path of villainy of eliminating the Carja, her worst enemies.
- Her death was played for sympathy, as shown at the end of Forbidden West, where the rest of the Tenakth including Hekarro and Kotallo stood in honour of her.
- If spared by Aloy, Regalla sides with her team to deal with the Far Zenith, who are the greatest threats on Earth, and sacrificed herself by getting crushed during a battle with an army of Specter drones.
- Shows to have genuine honour, as she stayed true to her word to fight Aloy during the second battle of the Memorial Grove and even accepted her defeat.
