~ Punguari summoning the power of the Mask of Many Faces to transform herself into a full god. |
Punguari is the secondary antagonist of Nickelodeon's 50th full-length animated film, The Casagrandes Movie.
She is a 12,800 year-old demigod and a daughter of Sisiki and Chipiri who believes she is ready to become a full-fledged god. However, she is denied from being given such a title due to her lack of responsibility, being warned that there will be disastrous repercussions.
When she defied her parents' direct order, Punguari transformed into a god with the Mask of Many Faces, and her actions inadvertently caused the earth below her to start cracking, releasing Ucumu from his imprisonment, until Sisiki sacrificed her own daughter to be petrified as a mountain to protect her.
She was voiced by Paulina Chávez.
Her Evil Ranking[]
Her Villainous Deeds[]
- After being refused multiple times by her parents from being a god, Punguari stole her father's magic staff to access a realm that holds the Mask of Many Faces, choosing to defy her parents and becoming a villain.
- As she becomes a full god, she endangered the lives of the Mexican people and inadvertently caused the earth below her to start cracking, releasing Ucumu from the depths.
- After being freed as a spirit from a mountain 800 years later, Punguari disguised herself as a 12-year-old girl named Shara, and manages to convince Ronnie Anne to help her find the Mask of Many Faces, pretending to be her new friend.
- She betrayed Ronnie Anne and stole the Mask of Many Faces again to regain her physical form, revealing her true nature. Afterward, she then trapped Ronnie Anne in an artifact room, leaving her to starve and possibly die.
- Upon becoming a full god once more, Punguari used her magic staff to destroy her once-transformed mountain with even more damage to make her own royal temple so she can party, causing the ocean to recede and the Earth to start cracking, allowing Ucumu to escape once again.
Why Doesn't She Stand Out?[]
- Her worst action of endangering lives and attempting populicide at the hands of Ucumu was a complete accident because she had no intentions of harming or killing everyone as Ronnie Anne stated, except for releasing Ucumu as a way of her terrible actions. Although she cannot be compared to Ucumu, she still fails the heinous standard of The Loud House and The Casagrandes to Morag, who caused a rampage on Loch Loud and tried to kill the Louds by controlling Lela.
- She is genuinely tragic and sympathetic; she was stopped and petrified into a mountain by her mother Sisiki, who sacrificed her own daughter as protection from Ucumu, not just punishment. After being turned into a mountain, Punguari's horrified form is played for sympathy, subjecting her to a fate worse than death.
- She also developed insecurities because she believed she was ready to become a full god despite being too young and tried to fulfill her desire of being worthy and earning such a title. When Punguari's parents kept denying her due to her lack of responsibility, this results with Punguari defying her parents and facing consequences of being a full god to cause disastrous repercussions, even unleashing Ucumu, because of her jealousy and obsession that kept her going, yet achieving her noble goals as a well-intentioned anti-villain.
- She has some comedic moments that detracts her villainy, like getting a "SHH..." sign on her mouth by Sisiki's magic.
- Though she betrayed Ronnie Anne to be her friend, Punguari still shows genuine respect to Ronnie Anne with no hard feelings, saying "You are pretty cool for a human.", as they shared similar differences to each other about their respective mothers.
- Despite her parents' overprotectiveness, Punguari still loves her parents, and she finally learned that her mother Sisiki had saved her from Ucumu so the petrification as a mountain was not a punishment but protection. She was filled with guilt and sorrow as her parents sacrificed themselves for her.
- She ultimately redeemed herself after learning the tragic truth about her fate as well as her parents and helped Ronnie Anne and the Casagrandes to defeat Ucumu and save Mexico, even rescuing Punguari's parents as gems on Ucumu's headpiece. Following Ucumu's second defeat, Punguari apologized to her parents for her reckless actions and learned her lesson about not being ready to be a full god. Afterwards, Punguari had now become a better person and a true friend to Ronnie Anne.
