ā€œ Welcome to Lorule. I am Princess Hilda, and I have failed you in every way. ā€ž
~ Princess Hilda introducing herself to Link.
ā€œ As the Princess of Lorule, it is my duty to save my kingdom. So I mean it with the best of intentions when I say... I must have your Triforce of Courage! ā€ž
~ Princess Hilda revealing her true nature.

Princess Hilda is the secondary antagonist of the 2013 action-adventure game The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.

She is the Lorulean counterpart of Princess Zelda and the mastermind behind Yuga's plot to steal the Triforce of Hyrule.

She was voiced by Kei Hayami.

Her Evil Ranking[]

Her Villainous Deeds[]

  • She sends Yuga to kidnap the descendants of the sages, including Zelda, allowing him to merge with Ganon.
  • She manipulates Link into "saving the sages" while she works on her plan to obtain the entire Hyrulean Triforce despite knowing that it will doom Hyrule.
  • She steals the Triforce of Wisdom from Zelda while she is trapped in a painting.
  • She summons Yuga Ganon to steal Link's Triforce of Courage once she no longer needs him, now becoming a true villain.
  • Even after being saved from Yuga Ganon by Link, she makes one more attempt to steal his Triforce of Courage before she is stopped by Ravio.

Why Doesn't She Stand Out?[]

  • While she passes the baseline for endangering thousands of people, she still fails the heinous standards to Yuga, who tried to destroy Hyrule and Lorule and remake them in his own image with similar resources.
  • She is tragic as her kingdom is on the brink of death due to the Lorule Triforce being destroyed long ago.
  • She is a well-intentioned extremist as her ultimate goal was to try and save her land. She was also manipulated into going down the path she was on by Yuga.
    • This also makes her an anti-villain and a villain by proxy as while she intended to steal the Triforce, (which would have doomed Hyrule to the same fate as Lorule) it wasn't heavily out of truly evil vices like greed, power and pragmatism but in desperation to save her dying kingdom combined with the fact that she never attempts to have Link, Zelda along with millions of innocent people killed in her plans, making her sympathetic.
  • She redeems herself at the end of the game after realizing her actions mimic the reason Lorule's Triforce was destroyed in the first place and returns Hyrule's Triforce to Link and Zelda before bringing them back to their kingdom while aplogising for what she did.
