Polle has been hunted down for their soul to be collected for the following reason(s): He doesn't really pass baseline I'd say; everything he does is a karmic punishment, and he even has Anya's text color while berating Jimmy at the end, likely showing her true feelings. The psychological torment he inflicts isn't that severe, anyways, and to an asshole victim, I hesitate to say he's crossing the baseline, and since that's now a necessity to VB... he's got to go. Please discuss it on the talk page for this article. |

Polle is the secondary antagonist of the 2024 psychological horror game Mouthwashing.
He is a cartoon horse and the mascot of the intergalactic delivery corporation Pony Express. Polle appears prominently in corporate propaganda posters throughout the game, initially presented as a benign and cheerful corporate mascot. However, in the game's later stages, Polle takes on grotesque and barbaric forms in hallucinatory sequences experienced by the main protagonist, Jimmy, symbolizing his own guilt and the weight of his selfish actions against the crew.
His voice during the final scene was provided by Martin of Wrong Organ, the game's developers.
His Evil Ranking[]
His Villainous Deeds[]
- He acts on behalf of Pony Express, a corrupt and neglectful company, and is designed to mask the company's wrongdoing with a cheerful, happy-go-lucky facade intended to keep employees in check.
- Throughout the game, he tortures Jimmy from within his mind by taking on eldritch and barbaric forms. For instance, after Jimmy steers the ship into an asteroid and flees, he begins hallucinating that the spaceship is transforming into an inescapable maze. During this scene, he sees the Polle statue appearing in various locations, eventually splitting into multiple conjoined and melded statues. Later, Jimmy hallucinates an enormous worm-and-horse-like Polle monster invisible to the naked eye that antagonizes him should he be heard moving, and subsequently, a massive centipede creature composed of dozens of Polles that screams like a baby and emerges from what appears to be a large, fleshy womb while stalking Jimmy through the vents.
- While there is some comedy associated with his character, such as being ridiculed by the Tulpar's crew and having his statue decapitated off-screen by Jimmy, it is minor and subverted by the end, where he is taken completely seriously.
Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- He fails the heinous standards compared to Jimmy himself, who was responsible for crashing the ship intentionally, raping and impregnating Anya, mutilating and torturing Curly, shooting Swansea in the head, and indirectly causing Daisuke's death.
- He lacks moral consideration and agency, as he simply exists as a mental manifestation of Jimmy's own actions. He doesn't seem to care about good or evil, and his sole purpose is simply to force Jimmy to confront the weight of his actions and deep-seated guilt.
- His actions are arguably morally justified, as they are an attempt to force Jimmy to confront his own delusions and accept responsibility for everything that he had done.
- He is an affable villain, as after Jimmy stops experiencing the most barbaric of his hallucinations, Polle politely and respectfully tries to talk to him and reveal the truth.
