The Jedi must not find our plans for the Ultimate Weapon. If they find out what we are planning to build, we're doomed.
~ Poggle the Lesser, in Geonosian, to Count Dooku.

Poggle the Lesser is a supporting antagonist in the 2002 film Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, a minor antagonist in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, and the main antagonist of the Return to Geonosis arc of Season 2 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. He was the Archduke of Geonosis and was the public leader of the Geonosians race during the Clone Wars. He was a servant of the Geonosian Queen Karina the Great and was nominally in control of the Stalgasin Hive. He was in control of the Baktoid Droid Factories on Geonosis which made him a powerful and high-ranking figure within the Confederacy of Independent Systems and he joined the Separatist war effort and served as a member of the Separatist Council and lead the Confederacy against the Republic throughout the war.

His Evil Ranking[]

His Villainous Deeds[]

Background[]

  • He oversaw the construction of Droid Factories on Geonosis and supplied armies of Battle Droids to the Trade Federation during their invasion of Naboo, holding Poggle somewhat responsible for all of the deaths that occurred during the battle of Naboo, which would include hundreds of Gungans.
  • He murdered the leader of the Geonosians, Hadiss the Vaulted, to ensure his control over Geonosis.
  • He assisted in arranging General Grievous’ accident so he could be rebuilt as a cyborg (in Legends canon).
  • In collaboration with the Techo Union, he supplied the Separatists with all of their Droid Armies, making Poggle widely responsible for all of the death and destruction during the Clone Wars.

Attack of the Clones[]

  • He tries to have Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Padme publicly executed by monsters.
  • He helped design the plans that would eventually become the foundation for the Death Star, a superweapon capable of destroying planets.

The Clone Wars[]

  • He assists Lott Dod in poisoning Senator Padme Amidala and attempts to use her as leverage against Clovis.
  • When the Republic invaded Geonosis, Poggle ordered his forces to bomb them.
  • He collaborates with Queen Karina to have the Jedi infected with brain worms, in order to have them possessed and subservient to the Queen.
  • Though he does tell Anakin how to defeat the Geonosian Worms, it was only out of his fear for his own life, since Anakin would’ve killed him if he didn’t talk.
  • He pretended to defect from the Separatist Alliance, just so he could escape from Republic Prison, before returning to his old ways.

Revenge of the Sith[]

  • He does nothing to protect his fellow Separatists, and although he met a brutal end at Darth Vader’s hands and was ultimately betrayed by Palpatine, this does not make him a scapegoat, since he deserved his fate for his actions.

Why He Doesn’t Stand Out?[]

  • He fails the massive heinous standards of the Star Wars universe.
  • He is genuinely loyal to the Geonosian Queen.
  • When Vader was killing the Separatists, he tries to defend himself with a staff instead of running away or pathetically begging for his life, showing him to have some minimal honor as how he stands out from other Separatists.
