Piccolo Jr., otherwise known as just Piccolo, is one of the main characters of the Dragon Ball franchise. He is the son and reincarnation of the Demon King Piccolo and the best friend and mentor of Gohan. He made his debut as the final antagonist of the original Dragon Ball series, specifically serving as the final antagonist of the King Piccolo Saga and the titular main antagonist of the Piccolo Jr. Saga.
He is voiced by Toshio Furuwaka in the Japanese dub, Scott McNeil in the Ocean dub and Christopher R. Sabat in the Funimation dub.
His Evil Ranking[]
His Villainous Deeds[]
- Upon being born, he starts causing havoc for other people, such as destroying an elderly couple's home and breaking into a family's house and injuring their dog when it chases after him.
- He attempts to take over the world like his father did and attempts to kill Goku to avenge him.
- He traps Kami in a bottle and eats it after he tries to seal him away, which puts both his life and the Dragon Balls at risk.
- He uses an Explosive Wave to kill Goku, which endangers the lives of everyone at the World Martial Arts Tournament and possibly even more.
- Before Goku can defeat him, he fires a Mouth Blast into his chest and proceeds to brutally pummel him to near death in front of all of his friends. Piccolo then proceeds to taunt Goku's friends after presumably killing him and attempts to murder them, which he would've done had Goku not stepped in to stop him.
- It's also possible that this beatdown Piccolo gave Goku gave Chi-Chi serious PTSD, which may have led to her rude, nagging and overprotective behaviour towards her sons Gohan and Goten, most likely not wanting them to get hurt just like Goku.
- While he does help Goku save Gohan from Raditz, it's only so he can conquer Earth before it's destroyed by Raditz and not out of any care for Gohan's safety.
- Following the fight with Raditz, Piccolo abducts Gohan and abandons him in the wilderness for 6 months as a way of training him, completely uncaring that Gohan is only 4 years old or there's a possibility he could die.
Why Doesn't He Stand Out?[]
- While he can't be compared to Frieza, Goku Black, Future Zamasu, Beerus, Zeno or Majin Buu, as he was vastly inferior to their raw power during his peak evil state, he fails the heinous standards to his father, King Piccolo, who attempted to destroy the Earth with similar if not identical resources and placed his victims into a state of limbo, Cell, who painfully sucked the nutrients out of hundreds of thousands of people and the Future Androids, who killed most of Earth's population in Future Trunks' timeline and left a deep personal impact afterwards.
- He has a genuine sense of honor, letting Krillin forfeit their match instead of killing him and choosing to peacefully leave Goku and his friends alone for the time being.
- He redeems himself, as he sacrifices his life to save Gohan from Vegeta and Nappa, telling him he's the only friend he ever had, and then becomes a member of the Z-Fighters and protects Earth and the universe from multiple threats afterwards.
- While his training methods are harsh, they have good intentions, as he wants to make sure his disciples like Gohan, Goten and Trunks are strong enough to face off major threats, and he winds down from this brutality.
- He cares about his friends, especially his best friend Gohan.
Trivia[]
- He is one of five Villainous Benchmarks who are Near Pure Good like Scorpion (Mortal Kombat Legends), Winter Soldier (Marvel Cinematic Universe), Starlight Glimmer, Megamind, and Ereshkigal (Fate/Grand Order).
