Dr. Peter Ludlow is the main antagonist of the 1997 live-action film The Lost World: Jurassic Park, the second installment of Universal Pictures' Jurassic Park film series. He is a rich businessman and the head of InGen, after replacing his uncle John Hammond. After his election, he leads the organization to transfer the dinosaurs of Isla Surana to a zoo in California and for this he acquires help from animal hunters.
He was portrayed by Arliss Howard.
His Evil Ranking[]
His Villainous Deeds[]
- After taking control of InGen, he would help spread slander directed at Ian Malcolm to ruin his good name.
- He hires mercenaries to catch many dinosaurs from "Site B" and bring them to the San Diego Zoo against their will.
- If not for Ronald Tembo's warning he would have let his men settle for the night in predator territory (albeit not on purpose).
- He tries to capture a big and a young Tyrannosaurus on boat. He also didn't notice the adult Tyrannosaurus killed all of the ship team and when he brought it to the continent, he escapes going a rampage throughout San Diego in search of its infant child.
- He gives very little help after the Tyrannosaurus escapes.
- In his final moment he tries to capture the young Tyrannosaurus until he notices the adult that grab him and feed him to his young.
- His actions not only cause most of the deaths in the film but also the discovery to the public of the two mysterious and dangerous islands of InGen.
Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- Whilst his endangerment of civilians in San Diego (not counting unintentional chaos that he was remorseful for) passes the baseline, he fails the heinous standard to other villains that abuse dinosaurs and have done far worse.
- According to Hammond, the plan to transfer the dinosaurs to a zoo was already proposed to the board of directors and they were the ones who demanded it from Ludlow, although of course he supported it. In doing so, he also tried to save the company from bankruptcy, which makes his motives logical.
- He is on & off villain who cooperates with the team and gave them a chance to escape even when they interfered in his missions.
- He is affably evil that most the time cooperating with Malcolm's team and invites them to the opening of his park. He also apologized on Eddie Carr and on Ajay death.
- He is grateful to Ronald Tembo about his help in hunting the Tyrannosaurus.
- He has several standards as he shows deep shock at the death of the ship's men or his actions when he saw the Tyrannosaurus's chaos. Also, it's very possible that he regretted them.
- Sometimes he is not taken completely seriously, such as his attempt to organize the expedition to move forward and his men do not get excited until Nick encourages them.
