~ The Panther Mask VIP threatening to kill Jun-ho if he doesn't "satisfy" him. |
The Panther Mask VIP is one of the overarching antagonists in Season 1 of the South Korean Netflix drama series Squid Game. He is a perverted aristocrat who funds the games and bets money on the players to gain more money.
He was portrayed by Geoffrey Giuliano.
His Evil Ranking[]
His Villainous Deeds[]
- He was presumably one of the VIPs who funded the Squid Game to happen in the first place, making him indirectly responsible for hundreds, if not, thousands of deaths and a majority of the events in the first season and prior.
- Alongside the other VIPs, he gambles money on the players in order to gain more money, taking sadistic enjoyment while watching the games.
- Alongside the other VIPs, he uses painted living humans as literal furniture.
- He became angry over Player 69, who was devastated on losing his wife during the marbles game, commiting suicide as he bet $1 million on him as he thought 69 was "a beautiful number".
- Later, he got angry over Player 96 (Ali), who offered his vest to another player out of kindness in the glass stepping stones game.
- He grabs Jun-ho and forces him to sit with him while he watched the games, making sexual remarks about his appearance.
- He later attempts to rape Jun-ho after threatening to kill him if he did not agree to "satisfy" him.
- Even though he is affable and nice to his fellow VIPs, it's not confirmed that he actually has a genuine friendship with them, and although he doesn't berate or insult them, it's still a minor validation, since he seems to have no respect to people who are below him. His behaviour is just plain affability and fellow delight in watching people risk their lives in the Games, and not real friendship or care.
Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- While enabling the Squid Games allows him to pass the baseline, he fails the heinous standards of the series to Oh Il-nam, the Front Man, and Jang Deok-su considering their horrible and brutal acts, not to mention his presence had almost no individual impact on the plot.
- While in Season 2 Gi-hun considers the VIPs as the main culprits for the games continuing after Il-nam's death, they all still share roughly the same crimes, preventing any from standing out.
- He has some comedic moments. For example, It's shown in the series where he is angry at player 69 for commiting suicide, calling him names because he doesn't want to admit losing and later, he gets angry at the Player 96, for choosing the 1st number where the Deer Mask VIP makes a joking remark, saying "First 69, and now 96?"
