~ Pandora

Pandora (in Japanese: パンドーラ Pandôra), also known as Amazon Pandora (in Japanese: 女戦士パンド-ラ Onna Senshi Pandôra), is the Goddess of Calamity and a major antagonist in Kid Icarus, the first installment in the Kid Icarus video game series. For reasons unknown, Pandora lost her physical form and was reduced to a ghostly face made of a fiery vapor. She can create illusions in her palace and also hovers throughout the battlefield, spitting fireballs at Pit during their battle.

She was voiced by Mariko Suzuki in Japanese and Nika Futterman in English.

Her Evil Ranking[]

Her Villainous Deeds[]

  • In the first game of the series, she tried to stop Pit from rescuing Palutena when the latter was kidnapped by Medusa.
  • She planned on killing Pit and Palutena under orders issued by Hades and Medusa.
  • She willingly aided Hades in his plans to conquer Earth and Skyworld, which would have entailed an incalculable number of deaths.
  • She spends most of Chapter 5 being a jerk to Pit and Palutena, and at one point, she yells at them just for asking her lots of questions out of pure curiosity.
  • She makes several rude comments to Pit with the intention to spite him during his journey through her labyrinth.
  • She forced Pit to kick the Mirror of Truth, which led to Dark Pit being created. This also makes Pandora partially responsible for Dark Pit's crimes as she enabled his villainy just for fun.
  • She threatened to kill Dark Pit to get revenge on him for betraying her.
  • Even after gaining her human form, she refused to redeem herself and made Palutena and Viridi jealous of her striking looks. She then learned that Dark Pit was at the Rewind Spring to restore Pit's wings and undo his death, and upon being aware of the former's goals, she tried to kill Dark Pit for the last time before she is beaten and defeated for good.
  • Although she has multiple comedic moments, the majority of them don't detract from her villainy and she is mostly taken seriously in-universe.

Why Doesn't She Stand Out?[]

  • Although she does pass the baseline by using the Mirror of Truth to perpetrate the war and while it's unfair to compare her to Hades or Viridi who are more powerful than her, she fails the heinous standard to the Chaos Kin, who trapped Palutena in a fate worse than death and attempted to exterminate the human race countless times for 3 years straight with the same resources.
  • While she is taken seriously most of the time, she has some comedic moments that actually detract from her heinousness, such as calling herself Auntie Pandora, being asked by Pit about whether or not she built her labyrinth without any hands and calling Palutena out just for commenting on her interesting ideas about interior design.
  • She has two Pet the Dog moments:
    • In Chapter 5, she answers most of Pit and Palutena's questions without getting angry.
    • In Chapter 22, she civilly tells Palutena and Viridi to eat their hearts out after gaining her human body.
