“ | Son...... We need to talk. | „ |
~ Nolan Grayson wanting to talk to Mark Grayson after killing the Immortal in front of him. |
“ | Think, Mark! Think!! The older we get the slower we age! You will outlast every fragile being on this planet. You will live to see the end of this civilization! Everything and everyone you know will be gone! What will you have after five hundred years? | „ |
~ Nolan Grayson's nihilistic rant towards Mark Grayson. |
Nolan Grayson, better known as Omni-Man, is the deuteragonist of the Image Comics series Invincible. He is a soldier of the Viltrumite Empire that was sent to conquer Earth. However, Omni-Man had cared for Earth during the time he spent living with his wife Debbie Grayson and son Mark Grayson. Once Mark Grayson receives his superpowers, Omni-Man begins his plans to conquer Earth for the Viltrumite Empire, but is conflicted to do so, due to Omni-Man's love for Earth and his family.
His Evil Ranking[]
His Villainous Deeds[]
- In the past, he has conquered multiple planets and enslaved their races for the Viltrumite Empire.
- Faked the history of the Viltrumite Empire to Earth and his family in order to conquer Earth.
- Killed the original Guardians of The Globe in an unpredictable manner.
- Denying that he murdered the original Guardians of the Globe which shows his hypocrisy.
- Gives the original Guardians of the Globe a funeral despite murdering them.
- When the Immortal is revived, Omni-Man fights the Immortal high in the skies to ensure that his true goals of conquering the Earth is not exposed to the public.
- Killing the Immortal in front of Mark Grayson.
- Revealing his plans to conquer the Earth for the Viltrumite Empire to his son Mark Grayson.
- Mark Grayson defies Omni-Man, so Omni-Man attempts to kill his son before fleeing Earth with regret.
- Indirectly causing his wife Debbie to become alcoholic in order to cope with his betrayal.
- Conquers Thraxa as a king in hopes of reducing his punishments from the Viltrumite Empire.
Why Doesn't He Stand Out?[]
- Despite easily passing the baseline due to his massive kill count, he fails the system standard as he is part of a species that does the exact same thing, as all other Viltrumites kill people and conquer planets, preventing him from being unique. While it's true that he does have lower resources than most of the Viltrumites, he doesn't do enough to stand out on his own.
- Cares for his wife Debbie and son Mark Grayson, being conflicted about raising him as a Viltrumite or a human. He also couldn’t bring himself to kill Mark, and chose to leave Earth instead.
- While he did murder the original Guardians of the Globe, Omni-Man made sure to kill them quickly so it would emotionally hurt him less. This shows that Omni-Man cared about the original Guardians of the Globe and did not want to betray them. This also makes him a villain by proxy as he did evil things like that against his better judgement for the Viltrumites.
- While he did conquer Thraxa as king, Omni-Man acts as a peaceful ruler towards the Thraxans and was angry when he saw the Viltrumites kill them.
- He goes on to feel remorse for his past actions and redeems himself to stop the Viltrumite Empire, saving the universe.
Trivia[]
- He was originally approved as Inconsistently Heinous for his high kill count and limited resources, but when it was revealed that he is part of a species that shares his crimes and he does not do anything unique to stand out alongside the other Viltrumites, he was removed and got a page on this wiki.
- While Omni-Man’s original comic incarnation is a Villainous Benchmark, the version from the Amazon Prime television series is Inconsistently Heinous due to him having more unique onscreen crimes like his genocide of the Flaxans and the slaughter of civilians on the train along with his fights against Invincible and the Guardians of The Globe being much more brutal. Since villains like Robot, Angstrom Levi, and Thragg have yet to leave their mark on the series, he also doesn’t have to compete with their personal villainy towards Mark. This allows him to stand out even taking into account his race.
- He and Nacho Varga are currently the only two Villainous Benchmarks on this wiki to be on the Inconsistently Admirable wiki, Magnificent Baddie wiki and Guile Hero wiki all at the same time.
