You have failed this city!
~ Oliver when confronting one of his targets, his most famous quote.

Oliver Queen, also known as Green Arrow and later The Spectre, is the titular main protagonist of the Arrowverse. Originally a selfish billionaire playboy Oliver learned of his father's wrongdoings and was stranded on an island which led to him developing both a stronger sense of justice and a more ruthless side with him attempting to make up for his family's bad deeds by fighting crime in Starling City.

He is portrayed by Stephen Amell.

His Evil Ranking[]

His Villainous Deeds[]

In General[]

  • He has killed more than 300 people and has reached the death toll with few resources.

Past[]

  • Repeatedly cheated on Laurel Lance during their relationship, even sleeping with her sister Sara behind her back.
  • Left Alan Durand for dead despite the fact he could have been innocent. Though Durand was a spy for Edward Fyers, Oliver did not know this at the time.
  • Killed Thea's drug dealer.
  • He stabbed Slade Wilson with an arrow in the eye after defeating him in the Amazo instead of using the cure on him after the latter threatened his family.
  • Tortured Matthew Shrieve after he got Akio killed (although he deserved it).
  • Continued to torture a man "for practice" even though he had given up information.
  • Murdered Konstantin Kovar despite Anatoly's attempts to talk him out of it.

Season 1[]

  • After returning to Starling City, he killed many criminals, including Justin Clayborne which led to his son Prometheus performing numerous atrocities.
  • Infected the Count with a dose of vertigo.

Season 2[]

  • He shot Roy Harper in the leg with an arrow to stop him from recklessly fighting criminals.
  • Considered strangling Barry Allen when he saved his life until Felicity and Diggle dissuaded him.

Season 3[]

  • He was very defensive of his cruelty when Barry Allen confronted him over it.
  • Kidnapped Diggle's wife Lyla as part of his plan to trick Ra's Al Ghul into thinking he was loyal to him.
  • Killed Ra's Al Ghul by running his sword through his chest and then handed the mantle over to Malcolm Merlyn.

Season 4[]

  • He freed Lonnie Machin from his prison transport truck to lead them to Damien Darhk, indirectly putting Darhk's family in danger as Machin kidnapped them. He even showed no remorse for it when Laurel called him out on it, instead comparing it to Laurel using the Lazarus Pit to resurrect Sara.
  • In his duel with Malcolm, he cuts off his hand to retrieve Ra's' ring.

Season 5[]

  • Resumed killing after Laurel was murdered. His initial decision to stop killing was more led by the pressure of Tommy and Diggle than remorse.
  • Arranged a hit on Adrian Chase through the Bratva.
  • He admitted to Adrian Chase that he enjoyed killing.
  • Knocked out an ARGUS guard to free Slade, making it likely that the guard died when Chase later blew up the island.

Season 6[]

  • He rubbed Andy's death in John’s face, which pissed off John so much that he started getting into a fistfight with Oliver.

Season 7[]

Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]

  • Although he passes the baseline with his 300 kills, he still fails the heinous standards to characters like Prometheus or Lonnie Machin who did worse with similar or less resources. It's also worth noting that most of his kills were horrible people or at the very least self defense.
  • He is incredibly tragic due to being stranded on the island because of Merlyn which led to numerous traumatizing events such as him being tortured and losing several loved ones.
  • He is a villain by proxy who was forced to become a murderer to survive the 5 years he was away.
  • He is a scapegoat for having spent "5 years in hell", being someone unwanted despite his intentions (including by his loved ones on some occasions) and because he ended up dying twice to save the multiverse.
  • He is genuinely affable and always expresses himself in a polite tone with his loved ones and even his enemies.
  • He is mostly an anti-villain, extremist and vigilante with good intentions who has saved the world and even the universe.
  • He genuinely cares for many people:
    • He loved both of his parents despite being aware of their flaws as he wanted to be a person they could be proud of and forgave his mother for her involvement with Malcolm and tried to convince Slade to spare her life. While his father's death had to stick so he was still the Green Arrow, he arranged to successfully save his mother in the new multiverse.
    • He always cared about Thea since they were young as he constantly looked out for her, protected her from Ra's Al Ghul and helped her through her bloodlust after she was revived.
    • In Hong Kong he got along with the Yamashiro family. He was angry when Shrieve got Akio killed and afterwards was friends with Tatsu despite her initial hostility towards him.
    • He had a genuine friendship with Tommy Merlyn since they were children and saved his life multiple times. After Tommy's death Oliver tried to honor him by adopting a no-killing policy. He even prevented his Earth-2 doppelganger from destroying the Glades.
    • He loved the Lance Family as he felt remorse about how he treated Laurel and was crushed by Sara's death. He even cared for their father Quentin and eventually developed a good relationship with and respect for him despite Quentin's dislike for him early on. When he died Oliver was devastated.
    • He bonded with Slade during his time on Lian Yu and even made up with him despite Slade's involvement in his mother's death. He also loved Shado, protecting her from Fyers and mourning her death.
    • He respected Yao Fei after he saved him and let himself be tortured to protect him.
    • He had a genuine friendship with Anatoly Knyazev as he saved him from Ivo, was saddened to see that his friend had fallen a dark path and was happy when Anatoly redeemed himself by turning on Ricardo Diaz.
    • He developed a bond with his bodyguard John Diggle who he fought crime with as he saved his life several times and supported him through hard times. When he recreated the multiverse, he made sure to let both of his children to coexist after Flashpoint.
    • He was genuinely in love with Helena Bertinelli and tried to save her from going down a dark path.
    • Constantly protected Felicity, saved her life from the Count, fell in love with her, was saddened when their relationship ended and expresses concern about her becoming like him.
    • He became a mentor to Thea's boyfriend Roy who he tried to help after he was infected with Mirakuru and planned to break out after Roy confessed to being the arrow to protect him.
    • He loved his son William and protected him from several of his villains such as Prometheus and Ricardo Diaz as well trying to support him through his mother's death. When the future selves of William and Mia were sent to the present, Oliver was nurturing to them for the limited time he spent with them. Shortly before the Crisis he had Diggle make sure that William and Mia grew together.
    • He was friends with Barry Allen, giving him advice when he first became a superhero, helping him to defeat Eobard Thawne and empathizing with his reasons for time travelling to save his mother. He also negotiated with Mar Novu so Barry did not die in the Elseworlds event.
    • Despite treating her roughly in the Dominator invasion, Oliver grew to care for Kara Danvers. He refused to surrender her to the Earth-X Nazis in no uncertain terms and negotiated with Mar Novu to allow him to save her.
    • He saved Earth-2 Laurel Lance from the destruction of her Earth and made sure she could stay in Earth-Prime while he recreated the multiverse. He expressed sadness over the deaths of the doppelgangers of his family and friends after the Anti-Monitor destroyed Earth-2.
  • He has shown remorse for his actions such as when he accidentally killed a police officer, this has clearly led to his redemption.
  • He has insecurities about not trusting himself as he confesses to Felicity and also, for a long time he preferred to be alone because he believed himself incapable of love.
  • Despite his brutality and ruthlessness there were times where he showed compassion for his enemies such as offering to help Garfield Lynns or reciting a prayer for Ra's as he killed him.
  • He has a genuine sense of honor and standards such as protecting Damien Darhk's family when he was his enemy, refusing to let the Bratva manufacture a drug or just generally being disgusted when innocent people are hurt.
