Yep, it really is a lovely bit of forest here. Too bad I'm gonna tear it all down!
~ Norm voicing his intention to tear down the forest, as overheard by the Bears.

Norm is the main antagonist of the We Bare Bears episode "Ranger Norm". He is a golf course planner who plans to tear down the forest with a bulldozer and build a golf course in its place.

He was voiced by Rob Huebel, who also voiced Terry Lizer in Big Mouth.

His Evil Ranking[]

His Villainous Deeds[]

  • While he is introduced as an awkward, yet friendly newcomer forest ranger who is affable to the three bears and Ranger Tabes, this was only purely synthetic as his true colors are revealed as a psychopathic, greedy and diabolical golf course planner who seeks to destroy the natural order of nature for his own selfish agenda by illegally demolishing the entire forest and building a golf course in its place per the orders of his boss, who is implied to have a massive corrupting influence on him. Both Norm and his boss use their richness as an excuse to commit their destructive crimes, with his boss even stating that "everything is legal" since they're rich.
  • While disguised as a park ranger, he appears to be Ranger Tabes' substitute ranger when she leaves for Ranger Con, being known as "Ranger Norm" and assigned to hang out with the Bears who do not suspect anything as they believe that he is just an ordinary forest ranger, though they immediately develop a disliking for him after his awkward attempts to befriend them.
    • During his time hanging out with the Bears, he maintains a cheerful and friendly facade while they show him around the forest per his request and even helps scare away a pack of Possums before they can attack, but this manipulative image of politeness was merely a part of preventing the Bears from finding out about his villainous plans. Additionally, it’s implied that the reason he asked the Bears to show him around the forest was so he could imagine what the golf course would be like once the forest was torn down.
    • Even after overhearing the Bears discussing their disdain for him, he continues to feign his affability and tells them that it's fine if they don't want to be his friend and he still thinks they're good guys, and leaves after thanking them for showing him around the forest. The faked tone of sadness in his voice causes the Bears to feel bad for their jerkish treatment of him, and they decide to go apologize to him by bringing him a basket of apology oranges.
    • When the Bears find him having a phone conversation in a building next to the Ranger Station, they initially think he isn't that upset but learn of his true nature as an evil golf course planner upon overhearing him voicing his intent to tear down the forest to the person he is talking with on the phone, who is revealed to be his boss; much to their horror.
  • He comes across the Bears (who are now alarmed by his true self after spying on his phone call) and steals the conch from Grizz when they try to call Tabes for help, ordering them to go back to their cave; the Bears appear to comply with Norm's command but immediately run back and confront him, warning him that they heard everything and he won't get away with his actions.
  • He chases down the Bears on a bulldozer and tries to kill them with the vehicle after they try to attack him, simultaneously starting the forest demolition and destroying everything in his path; and after the Bears lure him away from the forest to a clearing of boulders, he prepares to finish them off with a giant golf putter on the bulldozer.
  • After Tabes returns and saves the Bears from him at the last minute, he activates the rest of his bulldozer's giant golf putters, preparing to fight them.
  • When the rangers from Ranger Con arrive to help Tabes and the Bears and stop him, he threatens to self-destruct the bulldozer and take the entire forest with him after getting surrounded, being aware that this action would kill the Bears, Tabes, and the Ranger Con Rangers along with himself.
  • Alongside his boss, he has no redeeming qualities whatsoever due to being aware of his villainous deeds being wrong but still choosing to sadistically commit them without showing any remorse.
  • While not entirely, he is taken more seriously than other We Bare Bears villains, with his plan to tear down the forest being played for horror.

Why Doesn't He Stand Out?[]

  • While he passes the baseline due to threatening to blow up his bulldozer which would have killed everyone trying to stop him and destroyed the forest, he fails the heinous standards to Agent Trout, who attempted to kill Grizz and his brothers (along with the other captured bears) by leaving them all to die in a wildfire out of spite for ruining his plans.
  • He has a few comedic moments that detract from his villainy, such as his awkward attempts to befriend the Bears with them voicing their disdain for him, his reaction to each of the Ranger Con Rangers arriving one by one and damaging his bulldozer, and his defeat of getting a golf ball swung into his face by Ice Bear. Additionally, his whole motive to tear down the forest to build a golf course is also quite goofy.
