“ | I don't care about bullying! Heck, I encourage bullying! It builds character! | „ |
~ Mr. Burton's hateful comments to Jimmy when the school gym was burning down. |
Mr. Burton is a supporting antagonist in the 2006 video game Bully.
A harsh and disciplinarian official, he serves as the gym teacher of Bullworth Academy, who has a drill sergeant-like approach to teaching gym, constantly behaving roughly to his students to train them more effectively. On the other hand, it is later revealed that he has perverted intentions towards girl students, including Zoe Taylor, whom he makes her expelled for complaining about Burton.
He was voiced by Michael Boyle.
His Evil Ranking[]
His Villainous Deeds[]
- He is a harsh gym teacher, having a drill sergeant-like approach to teaching gym. He believes that pain builds character, and so encourages bullying to this end. He also bullies students himself.
- Although he did let the Nerds under him in class have Jimmy on their team, it was out of sadistic reasons, most likely for the specific purpose of witnessing other students besides them be thrashed, as he is well aware of Jimmy’s rough nature.
- He calls Pedro De La Hoya to his office to yell at him.
- In an unused content found in the game files, he bullies Pete and threatens to make the gym class beat him up the next day.
- He displays an inappropriate sexual interest towards the older girls at Bullworth.
- Sexually harassed Zoe Taylor, a student, and later gets her expelled for complaining about Burton hitting on her.
- Had some students, including Jimmy Hopkins and Tom Gurney, break into the girls' dorm and steal their dirty underwear, paying them when they succeed to do so.
- It is strongly implied that he gives the students on the team steroids.
- He encourages the football team to routinely harass and beat up the school mascot.
- In a deleted part of the Halloween mission, he mocks Pete horribly for wearing (and allowing Gary to make him wear) the pink bunny costume.
- While he did have a harsh upbringing that possibly made him who he is, as he was beaten by his father during his childhood and he was hazed badly while in college, this case does not justify his sexual crimes. In fact, there are other characters in the game who also come from dysfunctional families but ended up becoming good people, such as Jimmy himself.
- Although there are other Bully villains who did sinful deeds, they had more resources than him, allowing him to stand out as the most sexually depraved in story.
Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- While he can't be compared to the rest of the villains due to them having greater resources, he still generally fails the heinous standards to Gary Smith and Jimmy Hopkins, as the former having way more heinous crimes such as arson, kidnapping and riot incitement, and the latter having a wide range of crimes such as theft, vandalism and mass property damage, both with lesser resources than Mr. Burton's, as they're just regular high school students.
