~ Misa Amane. |
Misa Amane is the villainous tritagonist of the Death Note anime/manga. She is the lover of Light Yagami and right-hand in his plan of killing all criminals as The Second Kira.
In the anime adaptation, she was voiced in Japanese by Aya Hirano and by Shannon Chan-Kent (who also voiced Wallflower Blush) in the English dub.
Her Evil Ranking[]
Her Villainous Deeds[]
Anime/Manga[]
- She makes a public broadcast as the Second Kira and kills a two news reporters who opposed Kira and multiple police officers who tried to stop the broadcast including Ukita in order to get Kira's attention as well as multiple minor criminals.
- Threatens to kill Sakura TV staff as well as worldwide police chiefs if L doesn't reveal himself publicly, only stopping when "Kira" tells her to.
- Tells Light she will kill any girl who gets close to him and offers to kill her goth friend if Light wants her to.
- Tries to Kill L by seeing his name then giving it to Kira.
- Even when she lost her memories, she tells L that she would side with Light, regardless of him being Kira or not.
- Has Rem kill one of Kyosuke Higuchi's business rivals in order to get close to him by proving she is Kira.
- Assists Light as Kira in killing countless criminals.
- She doesn't seem to care when Rem sacrifices her life to save her and Light at all. She even tells Light how to kill a Shinigami when Rem had asked her not to.
- Due to the time-skip of five years, she could be responsible for more murders.
- While at dinner with Takada, after losing her memory, she mocks Takada that Light will catch Kira, and both Kira and Takada will be executed.
Why She Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- With a kill count of only 22 known people that were almost all done under Light's orders, she fails the heinous standard to not only Light himself (who sadistically killed, with complete disregard of human life, hundreds of thousands including innocent FBI agents who wanted to find him), but also Teru Mikami (who sadistically killed 2000+ and threatened to kill lazy people if they do not serve society), Kiyomi Takada (who, while killing mostly under Light's orders, killed hundreds of thousands herself for petty reasons), Beyond Birthday (who had the most gruesome and sadistic kills with very limited resources and without using a Death Note), and Kyosuke Higuchi (who sadistically killed 335+ including innocent business rivals, a traffic cop who pulled him over and criminals without bothering to confirm their circumstances, all without orders from Light.)
- She is tragic as her parents were killed by a criminal right before her eyes who never got justice served to him until being killed by Kira, causing her to idolize Kira.
- However, it is minor as she does not seem affected by what happened to her when doing her crimes as she is willing to murder people that had nothing to do with her tragedy. Not to mention, she is still willingly to choose to murder innocent people (as when she had some intentions to kill girls just for being close to Light).
- She is greatly in love with Light and is mainly motivated by being of use to him, despite his lack of concern or care for her. This is not fanaticism for him being Kira, as pointed out how she would even help Light catch Kira if he wanted her to when she lose her memory both times.
- It is easy to feel sympathy for her as she is being manipulated by Light though she also did ask Light to use her.
- She has several comedic moments detracting from her villainy, many of which are her acting stupid or calling L a pervert.
- Is genuinely a kind an affable person most of the time and able to make friends with others.
- She committed suicide after realizing Light has died in the anime, losing her will to continue living in a world without Light, is heavily play for sympathy.
Trivia[]
- While it could be solid evidence that the Death Note doesn't corrupt people when using it, such as Misa without her memories admitting she would still be supportive for Light if he were Kira, it could be possible that the after effects didn't leave her, such as what happened when using the Shinigami eyes that was not undone when she lost her memories.
