Melisandre also known The Red Woman is a character in A song of Ice and Fire Book and the adaptation series Game of Thrones. She is a Red Priestess, devoted to the religion of R'hilor - the Lord of Light, and has served as a close counselor to Stannis Baratheon during his campaign to take the Iron Throne. While she cares deeply for the future of the Seven Kingdoms, she has often resorted to highly morally dubious methods to achieve her goals.

- She burned statues of idolaters for her.
- When Stannis Baratheon tried to take the Iron Throne from his nephew - Joffrey Baratheon, she help him Stannis in infamous ways.
- At first she opposes Davos Seaworth's advice that Stannis needs to cooperate with his brother, Renly and with Robb Stark, the king in the north. when Stannis agreed with her causes the fall of the rebellion against the Lannisters, which cost many soldiers' lives.
- When Maester Cressen tried to poison her, she gives him a drink from his poison only to see she survives it.
- Makes Stannis unfaithful to his wife by having him fornicate with her, which filled with guilt.
- Using the shadow creature, she midwives to kill Renly, for Stannis. this caused Brienne to mistakenly suspected him of being a murderer and to destroy Renly's army.
- Mocked Davos about the death of his son, causing him to almost kill her.
- Had Stannis' nephew, Gendry do a leech ceremony with him and then sacrifice him.
- Burned several of Stannis's bannermen for Idolatry include Axell Florent, the Queen Selyse's brother.
- Burned Mance Rayder in Stannis's order after he refused to bend the knee to Stannis.
- Convinces Stannis to sacrifice his daughter, Shireen and doing this herself, even though her mother tries to stop it.
- After this sacrifice didn't give her the desired result she escaped from the camp and leaves Stannis and his men to be slaughtered by the Boltons.
- Even when Davos rebuked her for sacrificing Shireen she says she was only doing the Lord's bidding.
Why She Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- While sacrificing a child and burning others are bad enough to pass the baseline, she fails the heinous standards too much as she was mostly helping Stannis and acts upon his approvals.
- She is in the grey zone as she tried to follow her God's commandment, really just acting upon her religion.
- She also a affably Evil that didn't angry on her enemies mostly.
- From the sixth season, she redeemed herself as she brought Jon Snow back from the dead and helped him and Daenerys Targaryen with their goals. She did this even after Jon drives her away with the threat of execution if she returns after learning she killed Shireen.
- In this moment she even felt regret on her former acting.
- She has some Pet the Dog moments to Davos even though they are bitter rivals. She also tried to convert his son for R'hilor. She also has a Pet the Dog moment to Arya Stark as she saw Arya's success in defeating The Night King.
- Her death is played for sympathy, as she decided to kill herself while taking off her enchanted pendant, causing her to age to death in the snow.
