~ Megamind's second most famous quote. |
Megamind is the titular main protagonist of DreamWorks' 21st full-length animated feature film of the same name.
He is a blue alien with a genius-level intellect and a desire for affection stemming from his dark past involving his heroic rival, Metro Man, making him become the villain that he is. Since then, Megamind and Metro Man would fight each other for the fate of Metro City, with the latter always winning. He also has a talking sapient fish named Minion, who has been his henchman and best friend since childhood, and has created robots called Brainbots, who do his bidding for him, even going so far through disguising themselves as civilians.
He was voiced by Will Ferrell and by Keith Ferguson in the spin-off sequel, Megamind vs. the Doom Syndicate.
His Evil Ranking[]
His Villainous Deeds[]
Megamind[]
- After being told that the police officers were the bad guys and the prisoners were the good guys by his inmates, he attempted to break out of prison several times only to be stopped by the warden.
- He was very jealous of Metro Man's popularity and tried to steal the spotlight from him many times throughout his life.
- When his peers threw basketballs at him, he reflected them back at them with his helmet, which resulted in breaking his school's window, hitting the warden, and almost hitting the teacher if it wasn't for Metro Man (although it can be argued he did that out of self-defense).
- He invents a device that can turn people into ice-cubes and turn them back when water is dropped onto them, which inadvertently had several parents turned into ice cubes after he sold it.
- After realizing that he can be a bad guy through being isolated from the other students, he made a paint bomb and blew it up in the school. This resulted in him getting kicked out of the school while the school gets relocated elsewhere.
- He engages in countless fights against Metro-Man over the years.
- He kidnaps Roxanne Ritchi countless times throughout his battles against Metro Man, though as time went on she started to become a lot less bothered by being kidnapped and started to take enjoyment out of it.
- He steals the Wardenās watch and disguises as him to escape prison.
- During Metro Man's ceremony, he has Minion kidnap Roxanne again (although Roxanne doesn't seem too bothered by this anymore).
- He threatens Roxanne life with multiple weapons (although Roxanne doesn't seem too worried).
- He supposedly kills Metro Man by firing the death ray at him after trapping him in a copper observatory and takes over Metro City.
- After doing that, he robs a bunch of stores and fills them in his office along with vandalizing the whole city.
- He made the whole population of Metro City depressed due to them not having a hero.
- He freezes a guy named Bernard and pretended to be him so that he can date Roxanne.
- In an attempt to move on from Metro Man, he blew up his statue.
- Using Metro Man's DNA, he created a substance that would make anybody have Metro Man's powers just so that he could have an enemy to fight, which accidentally hit Hal Stewart, and would eventually turn him into the supervillain Tighten.
- He broke Roxanne's heart when she realized he was Bernard all along.
- He freezes Roxanneās landlord in an attempt to get into her apartment.
Megamind: The Button of Doom[]
- Even after his redemption heās still sadistic such as when he enjoyed destroying Mega-Megamind and seeing Damien and the kidsā parents punishing them, although it's understandable in both cases and the kids deserved it.
Megamind vs. the Doom Syndicate and Megamind Rules![]
- Come Megamind vs. the Doom Syndicate, he reverts back to being egotistical and lazy and undervalued Minion once again. He also still reveled in his past villainy, although he comes to see that he was wrong and tries to stop the Doom Syndicate by himself so he wouldn't put anyone else in danger, as well as apologizing to Minion and when he thought he was going to continue working on the Mr. Donut shop, he told him that he hoped Minion would be happy with his new life.
- It was revealed that he had a plan to launch Metro City into space at one point.
- After switching bodies with Roxanne for a day, he did a really lousy job as a mayor because he removed the No Parking signs which caused car accidents and put a snow globe in the middle of the city out of consistent demand.
- Feeling jealous that Roxanne was going out with another man, Megamind decides to make a camp buddy himself which briefly turned evil after he had to give it back to Keiko for her project, although this wasn't his intention.
Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- While he passes the baseline standard thanks to willingly making a plan to launch Metro City into space (which would lead to everyone dying of suffocation), he fails the heinous standards to Tighten, the Doom Syndicate and Machiavillain, all of whom tried to destroy Metro City. Resources don't help as Megamind has a massive amount of technology and a gun that gave Tighten his powers to begin with, enabling him to do much worse.
- Although he did create a plan to launch Metro City into the moon, he wasn't the one enforcing it at the end of the day, showing he holds back on his resources.
- He also relies on Fridge Horror as his takeover of Metro City isnāt portrayed to be terrible (given all that happened was mere littering and the citizens were depressed rather than killed) and while he caused several road accidents by removing the No Parking Signs, no deaths or injuries were confirmed.
- He is very tragic for numerous reasons:
- His home planet sucked into a black hole, making him the only survivor of his race.
- When he arrived on Earth, he crash landed in a prison and was raised there his whole childhood by felons. To make matters worse, he potentially could have gotten to be raised in a wealthy environment if not for Metro Man's rocket knocking him out of the way, thus making him a scapegoat to an extent.
- During school, he was isolated and bullied by his peers, at times being the last one picked for teams. Thus itās more than understandable as to why he would retaliate against them, especially Metro Man, who was also in the same school he was in.
- He was sent into timeout several times for extremely petty reasons. What makes this worse is that he never meant any harm, as he was merely trying to show off his talents to his classmates.
- All of these serve as motivating factors as to why he became a supervillain in the first place.
- He, along with Minion, are villains by proxy since they only became villains because Metro Man was the hero. Megamind even admits that villainy is the path given to him rather than the path he chose for himself.
- He is constantly played for laughs due to his evil traps no longer working on Roxanne and him dancing as he takes control over the city.
- He is a scapegoat, not only because of his tragic past and humiliating defeats against Metro Man during his time as a supervillain, but also because Tighten brutally beat him up and almost made him fall to his death. Come Megamind Rules!, he was also falsely accused for going back to villainy by Machiavillain when he was only trying to stop the Doom Syndicate.
- He genuinely cares for his partner and best friend, Minion, and was distraught when Minion initially left him. He is also mostly a good boss to his Brain-Bots and later his new assistant Kaiko Morita.
- He has standards as shown below:
- Despite wanting to take over Metro City, he never resorted to killing anyone to accomplish his goals and remained legitimately affable towards people like Roxanne. He does this to declare to Metro City that he intends to terrorize them, but the worst he has done are petty crimes.
- While Megamind did fire a death ray at Metro Man when he was supposedly trapped inside his observatory, he thought Metro Man would be able to escape and was genuinely upset when he was presumably killed. Like Roxanne, Megamind also did not appreciate Metro Man's retirement when he could have intervened.
- Instead of getting angry like Hal, Megamind lets Roxanne leave peacefully after she rejected him.
- He was disgusted by Hal when realizing that he was using his powers for evil instead of good just because he was rejected by Roxanne. He even calls him out for having an awful excuse for his villainy.
- He is genuinely in love with Roxanne Ritchi and does everything he could to impress her, even going as far as to disguising as Bernard to get what he wants. Also, she was the very first person Megamind had genuine connections with besides Minion.
- Even before he redeemed himself, he already showed remorse for many of his actions:
- He enjoyed fighting Metro Man and was upset that his supposed death ended their epic battles. As a result, he started to get upset that his life had no more purpose due to having no hero to fight.
- He clearly cares about his Brain Bots and was upset that he had to blow some of them up under his disguise as Bernard when bringing Roxanne to safety.
- When his cover was blown in his date with Roxanne, he starts to feel very conflicted over his actions.
- He showed remorse over Hal using his powers for evil.
- After Metro Man refuses to help Megamind and Roxanne, he humbles himself and returns to prison.
- He redeems himself and saves the whole city from Tighten by removing all of his powers. After this, he sells all of his villainous inventions to reform, but later gets them all back when they were abused and only uses his inventions for good reasons.
- Even when he becomes more egotistical and jerkish after officially becoming a superhero, he always apologizes for his actions, regrets his mistakes, and strives to fix the problems he causes.
Trivia[]
