Master Kohga is a major antagonist of the "Era of the Wilds" saga within The Legend of Zelda franchise.

History[]

This section is too long. Visit here for more details: Master Kohga's Synopsis on the Villains Wiki.

His Evil Ranking[]

His Villainous Deeds[]

In General[]

  • As the leader of the Yiga Clan, he's responsible for all their crimes, such as;
    • Willingly worshiping Calamity Ganon/Ganondorf, a monstrous manifestation of evil and had sought to revive and fight with him.
    • Making multiple assassination attempts on both Link and Princess Zelda, in part to prevent the latter's sealing power from awakening.
    • Terrorizing the Gerudo people.

Past[]

  • He sent Assassins to kill Zelda during her visit to Gerudo Town, only being stopped by Urbosa.
  • He sent Assassins after Zelda during a trip to Kara Kara Bazaar, forcing Link to kill one of them.

Post-Calamity[]

  • He had the Thunder Helm stolen from the Gerudo in an effort to prevent Link from freeing the corrupted Divine Beast Vah Naboris.
  • After Dorian fell in love with a Sheikah woman and had kids which had him spend less time with the Yiga Clan and ultimately leaving them, Master Kohga has his soldiers kill his wife and consistently had him blackmailed into doing their bidding otherwise his daughters would suffer the same fate as their mother.

Breath of the Wild[]

  • When Link infiltrated the Yiga Clan Hideout, he tried to kill the hero personally.

Tears of the Kingdom[]

  • He vowed to support and help Ganondorf in any way he could with his omnicide attempt.
  • He attempted to claim the autobuild ability to gift to Ganondorf.
  • He blamed Link for getting stranded in the Depths, despite it being entirely his fault.
  • He made multiple attempts on Link's life.
  • He created a Zonai Construct for Ganondorf.

Age of Calamity[]

  • He allied himself and the Yiga Clan with Astor and Harbinger Ganon.
  • Under Astor's orders, he disguised himself as Urbosa and manipulated the Gerudo into attacking Link, Impa, Zelda, and the soldiers with them.
  • He attempted to personally kill Zelda, only to be stopped by Urbosa.
  • Once his disguise was revealed, he summoned the Yiga Clan to attack Gerudo Town.
  • He again tried to kill Link, Zelda, Impa, and Urbosa.
  • When the heroes raided the Yiga Clan Hideout, he attempted to kill them yet again.
  • During the Calamity, he, the Yiga Clan, and Ganon's forces attacked the royal ancient lab.
    • He also attempted to steal Riju's Thunder Helm during the attack.

Why Doesn't He Stand Out?[]

  • While he didn't mind helping Ganondorf to carry out his plan to commit omnicide, thus allowing him to pass the general baseline, Kohga's role is not too pivotal as nothing indicates that Ganondorf would need any assistance with his plans, and Kohga didn't know that. This puts the heinousness of the action down.
  • He fails The Legend of Zelda's high heinous standards to the following characters below:
    • Astor, who reaped the souls of several members of the Yiga Clan to resurrect the Blight Ganons.
    • Ganondorf, who tried to take over Hyrule and destroy the world.
    • And finally, (albeit to a lesser extent) Sooga, who also tried to kill Link and Zelda.
    • Kohga's resources don't help anything, as he is the leader of a large team of people (the Yiga Clan).
  • He is far too comedic to be taken seriously and he is notably very lazy as he spends most of his time taking naps while Sooga, the Yiga Clan, and the other villains involved do all the dirty work rather than doing the terrible deeds and going farther, in terms of heinousness, himself.
  • He genuinely cares about Sooga in many ways, when he first meets him when he was weak and starving, he stops the footsoldiers from killing him and gives him a Mighty Banana and cordially tells him that he will one day repay him at a later time. After the betrayal, Sooga tells Kohga to run for it, but when Kohga is about to flee, he stops himself and refuses to leave him behind and calls him "his best lackey" and was upset about having to leave him behind when Sooga is surrounded by the Blight Ganons where he presumably meets his end. Master Kohga did not just see Sooga as a mere right-hand man, he saw him as a true friend.
  • Even when he doesn't take kindly to anyone leaving the clan, Master Kohga also cares about his clan, and he shows visible horror when Astor uses the souls of the fallen Yiga soldiers to revive the Blight Ganons (they were destroyed by the heroes before the demons could kill the four Champion Pilots as foretold).
  • Exclusive to Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, because of what Astor had done to many of his soldiers, Kohga abandons his old ways, redeems himself, and sides with the Hyrulean Army and helps them defeat Calamity Ganon and Astor to avenge his fallen comrades.

Trivia[]

  • Master Kohga is the first The Legend of Zelda villain to be a Villainous Benchmark.
  • He also used to be Inconsistently Heinous but he was removed due to him failing the heinous standard to Ganondorf.
