He was voiced by Daisuke Hirakawa.
His Evil Ranking[]
His Villainous Deeds[]
- While its shown he was a good person in the past through flashbacks and not actively bad in the beginning of the show, he subverts any likable quality as time goes on.
- Despite being the protagonist of the story, he is meant to be rooted against as he is portrayed as a black hole of evil whose sexual drive and lack of empathy causes only pain and suffering to nearly every other character around him, driving the plot into its extremely depressing tone.
- Although he seems nice and friendly, this is a façade behind is two-faced, perverted and manipulative nature which goes away when he no longer feels the need to act that way.
- His awkward date approach to dating Kotonoha is portrayed in somewhat creepy manner. First, he takes a picture of her without her consent as part of a school tradition instead of talking to her. Once finally able to go on a date with her, he makes multiple awkward failed attempts to kiss her at the movies.
- When Katsura actually fell in love with him, he instantly got bored of his relationship with her (most likely due to the fact she wouldn't have sex with him on their first date.) Instead of dumping Kotonoha, however, he remained cold and distant towards her, despite her desperate attempts to reach out to him and even offering to let him touch her boobs. This causes Kotonoha to become extremely insecure and fall into a helpless depression as she is severely bullied and even raped by Makoto's friend, Taisuke Sawanaga, with nobody to help her through her mental struggles as the plot holds Makoto as someone responsible who can easily help but chooses not to.
- He agree to go on a practice date with Sekai, wanting to have sex with her then beginning to lust over her (which is made worse by the fact that she recently become one of Kotonoha's only friend), causing a rift between them.
- With no hesitation, he breaks up with both Sekai when offered a chance to have sex with Setsuna on her last day in town (who was a terrible bully to Kotonoha.) After this, he would continue to have sex with multiple other girls, seeing them as sex objects to fulfill his desires rather than actual people.
- Moreover, he is also a pedophile, as he abused Yuki, who was younger than him, by manipulating her feelings.
- Impregnated Sekai (to his knowledge at least) and took absolutely no responsibility, reprimanding her for bringing it up in front of other people. Even later he would ask her to get an abortion while he ignores her attempts to contact him in favor of dating Kotonoha again.
- It was revealed in the final episode that the pregnancy was a lie in a failed attempt to have Makoto return to her, but that doesn't excuse his mistreatment of her.
- While it could seem like him apologizing to Kotonoha makes him remorseful, it is ambiguous if he actually felt sorry or saw her as his only option since no other girl wanted to have sex with him anymore. Regardless, the show never plays Makoto sympathetically and continues to have him behave like an arrogant jerk.
- Just to be a jerk, he French kisses Kotonoha in front of Sekai, causing her to go insane and try to kill Kotonoha, who instead went crazy and killed both Sekai and Makoto himself instead.
- While his death at the hands of Sekai, who stabbed him multiple times, was quite brutal, it was nevertheless completely deserved considering how disgusting and vile jerk he was towards not only her, but other girls.
- Overall, he is a selfish, manipulative, mean and twisted jerk who has undermined all of his redeeming qualities, showing him as a pathetic bastard in the end, trying to garner pity in his final moments to stay his perverted life.
- Moreover, the factor that further enhances his vile actions is that he is a schoolboy who knows about his hormonal changes and uses this to attract girls in droves and rape them for his perverted pleasure, which makes him an even more hateable bastard.
Why Doesn’t He Stand Out?[]
- He manages to pass the general standard by being a highly personal enemy to Sekai and Kotonoha, as well as how badly his actions destroyed the latter's life. However, he fails the heinous standard compared to Tomaru Sawagoe, who committed multiple incested rape with his own daughters, and Taisuke, who outright raped Kotonoha with the same resources.
Trivia[]
- His Cross Days manga counterpart is considered Near Pure Evil due to being portrayed just as, if not more psychopathic than this version of him due to having 2 confirmed sexual assaults. In contrast, his anime version only has 1 sexual assault, which is simply not enough to make him NPE.
- His other counterparts have the tragedy of having an abusive father who he hates due to his actions, however since Makoto’s father has no hints of abusing him in the anime, he cannot count as Tragic or Evil with Standards. Also, he doesn’t show any remorse for his actions unlike his School Days manga counterpart.
