~ Magica De Spell |
Magica De Spell is one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside General Lunaris) of the 2017 DuckTales reboot series.
She is a powerful sorceress with an eternal hatred of and rivalry with Scrooge McDuck, bent on destroying him and everything he holds dear. She is the archenemy of Webby Vanderquack, the "aunt" and creator of Lena De Spell, and one of Scrooge McDuckās two archenemies (alongside Bradford Buzzard).
She was voiced by Catherine Tate and by Kimiko Glenn when possessing Lena.
Her Evil Ranking[]
Her Villainous Deeds[]
- She and her brother took over and enslaved a village and often turned people into non-sapient animals as punishment or just for their own amusement.
- She and Poe sent an army of shadows to steal from the villagers when they stopped paying tribute to them.
- She took over the Phantom Blot's village and threatened to destroy it if they didn't provide her with gifts.
- She then destroyed the village simply out of boredom, killing many of the civilians, including the Phantom Blot's family. This makes her indirectly responsible for his crimes.
- As she was being imprisoned by Scrooge, she used her shadow to create Lena and forced her to serve her, by falsely promising to grant her freedom.
- She told Lena to leave Mrs. Beakley to die when she was trapped under a train car.
- She had Lena place an artifact called the Hunter's Stone into Scrooge's Money Bin, where it will find Scrooge's Number One Dime. The money transformed into a shark-like monster that devoured most of the kids
- She didn't care that the money shark could have killed Lena.
- She forced Lena to throw her friendship bracelet in the ocean, saying that if she wanted her freedom, she would have to serve her.
- When Lena disobeyed her and tried to warn Scrooge about her, she took over her body.
- After escaping, she imprisoned Scrooge and betrayed Lena by trapping her in her shadow.
- She unleashed an army of shadows and planned to make Scrooge watch as she had them destroy all of Duckburg and everything he loved.
- She tried to kill Huey, Dewey, Louie, and Webby when they confronted her.
- When Lena fought against her to protect her friends, Magica sealed her away in the Shadow Realm forever.
- After her first defeat, she tormented Lena with nightmares in an attempt to get her to join her again and give her powers back.
- She teamed up with several other villains to kill Scrooge and his family
- Although she helped Lena, Webby and Violet defeat the Phantom Blot, that was because she was afraid for her own life, and she quickly betrayed them after he was defeated.
Why Doesn't She Stand Out?[]
- Although she did commit several heinous crimes, she fails the Heinous Standard to General Lunaris, Taurus Bulba, and Bradford Buzzard (who fails the Heinous Standard himself), who all did worse with lower resources.
- Although Bradford actually has more resources, he didn't use them with maximum potential, and the resources he used isn't as big as Magica's.
- She cares about her brother, as she was devastated when he was turned into a raven and flew away. She even offered to give Scrooge anything he wanted if he helped her save him, and later searched everywhere for her brother. Though it doesn't justify her actions, Scrooge's refusal to help is one of the main reasons why she wanted revenge on him, which makes Scrooge a rather selfish hero.
- Plus this kind of one of the main reasons her hatred for Scrooge is at least genuinely sympathetic motive.
- She has several comedic moments that detract from her heinousness, especially in the last two seasons.
- She genuinely has standards as she was disgusted with Bradford's actions. She even put her rivalry with Scrooge and his family aside and turned him into a non-sapient vulture as punishment.
- She also has a small amount of honor, since she wanted to defeat Scrooge in battle and when he was at his best, and not when he was depressed.
