Machiavillain is the main antagonist of DreamWorks Animation's Megamind franchise.
He was Megamind's evil professor, who taught him how to be a supervillain. But then, he was accidentally destroyed and almost killed by his pupil. And even though he was initially willing to let Megamind take his place as the greatest villain of Metro City, he decided to return to punish him for turning good. And then, he took leadership of the Doom Syndicate, so that they could get revenge and conquer the city. Machiavillain also serves as the second arch-nemesis of Megamind, succeeding Tighten.
He is voiced by American singer-songwriter Adam Lambert.
His Evil Ranking[]
His Villainous Deeds[]
- Although he was legitimately a good mentor to Megamind and let him rule Metro City after he accidentally defeated him, he subverted it after Megamind turned good and decided to defeat him.
- He manipulated Keiko into handing over Megamind's binkie so that he could return to his body.
- He used the Doom Syndicate as a distraction for Megamind while he redirected the meteor towards Metro City.
- He only saved everybody from it to paint himself as a hero by the city. He then called Megamind public enemy number 1.
- He traps Megamind in a video game in an attempt to make him evil again.
- He is so evil that even Dude Monkey, who was initially a detestable and pathetic fake hero, as well as his thief sidekick, reform for the better and team up with Megamind to stop him and become real heroes in the process.
- He set up a live performance in Metro City so that everybody could get brainwashed.
- He succeeded in making everybody a villain except Megamind and Keiko.
- He hacked both Minion and the Brain-Bots.
- He corrupted Roxanne and made him turn against Megamind. He betrays the Doom Syndicate and gives Roxanne all of their powers while doing so, showing he has no honor in the slightest.
- He tries to corrupt Megamind one last time. However, Megamind ultimately rejects being a villain, which makes Machiavillain order Roxanne to kill him. But Roxanne eventually frees herself from his brainwashing due to Megamind confessing he loves her.
- Although his defeat was comedic, it was also karmic for his crimes.
- Even after his defeat, his actions might leave a huge impact in the future due to Roxanne being both a mayor and a superpowered-individual, which makes her have to struggle with both sides of her life.
- Due to DreamWorks' habit of loose continuities within their franchises, with Megamind's backstory being mostly retconned, he cannot be compared to Tighten in heinousness.
Why Doesn't He Stand Out?[]
- Although he passes the baseline for his personal villainy against Megamind, endangering Metro City, and for forcibly stealing the Doom Syndicate's powers, him turning everybody into villains relies on Fridge Horror since it is not shown to be painful.
- He held back on his individual capacity since he could've used the meteor to destroy Metro City, but he decided to deflect it and blame it on Megamind instead, thus saving everybody instead of killing them.
- Due to this, he fails the standards to the Doom Syndicate, all four of them nearly suffocating everybody by sending Metro City to the moon.
- Unlike the first movie which had a serious tone, the sequel and the series are 100% comedic, with nearly every single character in the series including Megamind himself being an idiot, thus preventing him from being a Silly PE.
- Machiavillain also has his fair share of comedic moments, such as how he turned into a brain when Megamind defeated him and his defeat where he whimpers about his hair before he becomes Megamind's weather app, as well as how his crime of brainwashing everybody is not taken seriously due to it relying on Machiavillain having to sing an extremely light-hearted song that downplays how evil he is.
