~ Lord Hater explaining his evil to Wander. |
Lord Hater is one of the two tritagonists (along with Commander Peepers) of the Disney Channel animated series Wander Over Yonder, and the show’s former main antagonist.
He was the main antagonist of Season 1 and the deuteragonist of Season 2.
He is the supreme leader of the Hater Empire. He was once considered the greatest villain in the galaxy the series takes place until he met Wander. He resides on the Skullship and leads a personal army of cycloptic creatures called Watchdogs with one named Commander Peepers serving as his right-hand man. He is also the arch-nemesis of Wander (on Hater’s side).
His Evil Ranking[]
His Villainous Deeds[]
- He conquered and enslaved multiple planets in the galaxy.
- He sometimes abuses his Watchdog army, mostly Peepers.
- He tried to destroy a star, which could have doomed the planets in the surrounding system.
- He takes pleasure in people's suffering, even having a mixtape of all the screams of those he tormented as shown in "The Bounty.
- He killed multiple people in the galaxy. This is heavily implied to be true in "The Axe", because in that episode, it was shown that he has skulls of the people killed by him and his Watchdog Army in one of his Skullship's rooms.
- He committed mass theft, stealing so many goods from multiple planets, as shown in "The Rider".
- He tried killing Wander multiple times.
- He would have destroyed the sun if it wasn't for Wander in "The Good Deed".
- In "The Date", he threatened to blow up every planet within the universe if Sylvia, under the persona of Liguini Von Breadstick, didn't marry him after their date on Lamouria.
- In "The End of the Galaxy", reveals, that all of his help to defeat Lord Dominator was done just to become a villain again, showing that he didn't have any noble goals in helping Wander and friends.
Why Doesn't He Stand Out?[]
- He suffers from Fridge Horror, as his threat of omnicide in "The Date" is debatable if he would've followed through on it if Sylvia didn't comply.
- And while he did attempt to destroy a sun and killed many people, as shown by the fact that one of his rooms has hundreds of skulls, implying that his schemes lead to at least a ton of deaths, he would still fail the heinous standards to Emperor Awesome, a villain with fewer resources than Lord Hater.
- Even if his threat of omnicide in "The Date" didn't rely on Fridge Horror, and that was combined with his two other heinous actions, the fact that Emperor Awesome attempted to party on one planet while already having destroyed three with his parties before that (and not caring) means that he is slightly more heinous than Hater.
- He is shown to care for some people on multiple occasions.
- He would reward Watchdogs who did great things for him. as shown when he gave Westley a medal of evil in "The Little Guy". When he thinks he died, he genuinely felt bad for his death, showing he cared a lot about him.
- He genuinely missed Commander Peepers after he fires him in "The Axe".
- He is especially shown to care for Captain Tim after he adopted him in "The Pet", and he even tries finding him after he goes missing in "The Search for Captain Tim".
- He does care for Commander Peepers when he stands up for him when Emperor Awesome was bullying him and beat up Emperor Awesome.
- He's extremely comedic, incompetent and constantly played up for laughs in all of his appearances. Outside of the first episode, he is never taken seriously, sometimes he even accidentally ruins his own plans due to his incompetence and egotism.
- While it’s was pragmatic, he nonetheless made multiple attempts to save the galaxy when he found out Lord Dominator wanted to conquer planets to destroy the galaxy. He was successful in the finale, when he was the one to destroy her suit and her ship, making him On & Off.
- There were times he works well or teams up with Wander like in the episode "The Show Stopper" when Hater enjoys playing music and singing with Wander and in "My Fair Hatey" where he teams up with Wander and takes his advice on how to impress Lord Dominator, and is heavily implied who respect him.
- In “The Cartoon”, he was shown to have some sympathy for others as he said animators deserve more respect, since animating is so hard.
Trivia[]
- He is the most heinous Villainous Benchmark in Wander Over Yonder.
- There were news about Season 3 showing Lord Hater’s backstory as a monkey. If the show had a Season 3, and this was an actual episode, it’s possible it might affect Hater’s moral agency or give him a tragic backstory, making him even less heinous.
- Ironically, Lord Hater's design was inspired by The Horned King from The Black Cauldron, a Pure Evil villain.
