ā€œ Come quietly... and I'll let you keep your limbs. ā€ž
~ Lady Nagant threatening Deku, and her introduction.
ā€œ Once upon a time, vigilantes played the role of heroes and won the people's trust. In turn, the country made sure they kept doing their part. At the end of the day, trust in heroes is the foundation of superpowered society. And me? I was a cog in place to keep that system running nice and smooth. ā€ž
~ Nagant explaining to Deku how she became a hired gun for the Hero Commission.

Lady Nagant, real name Kaina Tsutsumi, is a former antagonist and supporting character from the anime/manga series My Hero Academia.

She is a former Pro Hero who, after losing her faith in hero society, became a hired gun for the corrupt Public Safety Commission, and would carry out assassinations on their behalf.

After being imprisoned for her crimes, she later broke free when Tartarus was attacked by the Paranormal Liberation Front, and joined forces with All For One to aid him in his pursuit of acquiring the One For All quirk from UA student and hero Izuku Midoriya.

In the anime, she is voiced by Atsumi Tanezaki, and by Erica Lindbeck in its English Dub, who also voiced Loona from Helluva Boss.

Her Evil Ranking[]

Her Villainous Deeds[]

  • On behalf of the Hero Public Safety Commission, she carried out numerous assassinations.
  • When the Commission refused to let her leave, she murdered their chairman, which resulted in her being sent to Tartarus, a maximum security prison.
  • Although hesitant, she joined forces with All For One after the prison break and became his mercenary, and was ordered to kidnap Izuku Midoriya AKA Deku.
  • She attempted to shoot and incapacitate Deku multiple times during their fight, showing no regard for his safety or well-being, and even stating that she would maim him if necessary to carry out her mission.

Why Doesn't She Stand Out?[]

  • While her numerous assassinations are bad enough to pass the baseline, they rely on Fridge Horror, since the exact number of people she killed is unknown.
    • Additionally, she's a generic hitman-for-hire whose kills were rarely motivated by self-interest. Furthermore, the few people she is confirmed to have killed deserved it, which downplays how heinous she is.
  • She massively fails the high heinous standard of the My Hero Academia franchise to Muscular, Tomura Shigaraki, All For One, Dabi, Overhaul, Daruma Ujiko, and Gigantomachia, who all do way worse with lower resources.
  • She's an extremist whose targets were terrorists or other dangerous criminals (with the exception of Deku).
  • She is honorable. The entire reason she became a Pro Hero in the first place wasn't out of greed or ego, but because she had a genuine desire to help others and protect the innocent. And when she joined the Commission and carried out assassinations on their behalf, it was her way of ensuring that hero society remained "balanced" and that the heroes always reigned victorious.
    • She also rescued a disabled Kai Chisaki, rather than abandoning him, when breaking out of Tartarus.
  • She's very sympathetic:
    • During her fight with Deku, she revealed her backstory as a former Pro Hero, and claims she lost all faith in hero society after witnessing the corruption first-hand from her fellow heroes.
    • After joining the Commission and murdering numerous people, she began having vivid and disturbing hallucinations caused by her immense guilt.
    • In the moments leading up to Nagant's fate, Deku attempted to resonate with her, telling Nagant that he can sense that she still has the drive of a hero, which Nagant reciprocates, leading to her detonation at the hands of All For One.
  • Lastly, she managed to redeem herself by aiding Deku and the other Pro Heroes during their battle with Shigaraki and All For One, even crawling her way out of the hospital and continuing to fight in spite of her critical injuries.
  • After the war was won and both Shigaraki and All For One were defeated, she willingly returned to prison, hoping to spend the rest of her days watching how society changes from afar, and wanting to atone for her past offenses even though Hawks, the current president of Hero Public Safety Commission, pardoned her.
