George Augustus, or King George II, is one of the two overarching antagonists (alongside Tia Dalma) of Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean film series.
He desires to get rid of all piracy over the Caribbean to expand his empire and to make the Fountain of Youth his property so he can live forever. He is based on the real life king of the same name.
He was portrayed by the late Richard Griffiths.
His Evil Ranking[]
His Villainous Deeds[]
- He orders the arrest of the pirates who helped Hector Barbosa and executes them without trial.
- Gave signed letters to Lord Cutler Beckett about the arrest of Will Turner, Elizabeth Swann and James Norrington for helping to save Jack Sparrow from hanging, after they defended him as a "good man".
- Appoints Beckett as commander of an armada of the Royal Navy to attack and eliminate the Brotherhood Court at any cost.
- He tries to organize a British expedition to prevent the Spanish and the Catholics from obtaining eternal life from the fountain of youth.
- He's the general villain of Pirates of the Caribbean and apparently was never punished for trying to expand his empire, so he's a Karma Houdini.
- Although he opposes piracy for understandable reasons, he crosses the line by agreeing to Cutler Beckett to destroy anyone who associates with pirates, including children. He is also a hypocrite since he has no problem with Jack or Barbossa being pardoned in exchange for finding the spring.
Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- While he passes the general baseline for attempting mass genocide on pirates, he suffers from off-screen villain horror, as we don't know how involved he is in trying to destroy all the pirates and the Spanish force.
- Because of this he falls further short of the heinous standard to Lord Cutler Beckett, Mr. Mercer, Davy Jones and Captain Salazar who acted much more directly to exterminate the pirates.
- He honors agreements as he agrees to give Barbossa a pardon from being a pirate if he finds the fountain of pleasures (although Barbossa voluntarily returns to piracy).
- He has several comedic scenes.
