Enough. I follow the strongest side. That is all I have ever known.
~ King Bulblin's redemption as he finally acknowledges Link as superior to Zant.

King Bulblin is the secondary antagonist of the 2006 action-adventure game The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

He is the barbaric leader of the Bulblins, who kidnap the children of Ordon Village on behalf of Zant to expand the Twilight Realm into Hyrule. In doing so, he becomes the archenemy of Link, the Hero of Twilight.

His Evil Ranking[]

His Villainous Deeds[]

  • Willingly chooses to serve Zant while fully aware of his evilness.
  • Invades Ordon Village and kidnaps the children, forcing them to take refuge in Kakariko Village for the rest of the game.
  • Summons a red portal for Zant's Shadow Beasts afterwards.
  • Invades Kakariko Village and kidnaps Colin to spite Link.
  • Attacks Link on the Bridge of Hylia, and after being defeated, sends his minions to stop Link and Telma from escorting Ralis to Kakariko Village.
  • He corners Link in Gerudo Desert and knocks out a Bullbo, showing he doesn't care for his minions, and when Link defeats him, he sets the building on fire in a last-minute attempt to kill him, only failing due to said Bullbo regaining consciousness.
  • He finally challenges Link one more time in Hyrule Castle's courtyard.

Why Doesn't He Stand Out?[]

  • It is implied that his actions were done under Zant's orders, meaning he fails the heinous standards.
  • He is insufficiently characterized as he only has two lines of dialogue (shocking Midna as she's never heard a Bulblin speak before) with them amounting to him announcing his wish to fight Link and him renouncing it by acknowledging Link as superior to Zant.
  • Nothing he does goes beyond "kill the heroes" villainy, making him a bog-standard.
    • Not to mention, he also fails the individual capability as he has a huge ax and an army of Bulblins at his disposal and therefore has the resources to do worse, yet only uses them for generic bog-standard villainy.
  • He ultimately redeems himself in the game's climax.
    • After his fourth battle with Link, (which is optional) he willingly hands over the key to Hyrule Castle’s interior, and states that he only follows the strongest side as it's all he's ever known, thus finally acknowledging him as superior to Zant. (Even in unawareness that the former was indirectly responsible for the latter's well-deserved death).
    • Regardless of whether or not Link fights him in Hyrule Castle, during the game's end credits, he is seen riding around Hyrule Field with his fellow Bulblins (with his horns intact again), indicating that they and the Hylians are finally at peace with each other.
