Karen Plankton is the secondary antagonist of the SpongeBob SquarePants franchise. She is Sheldon J. Plankton's wife who often helps him with his schemes. She and Plankton are constantly scheming to steal the Krabby Patty formula from Mr. Krabs. Karen is typically the brains of the operation, coming up with complex plans to run Krabs out of business. However, Plankton has a tendency to take all of the credit for her ideas.
She is voiced by Jill Talley.

- She constantly helps Plankton in stealing the Secret Krabby Patty Formula.
- While Plankton is incompetent, she has fewer if any incompetent moments at all.
- She constantly abuses Plankton despite him being her husband.
- Although she does use artificial intelligence, she is highly intelligent and very clearly understands right from wrong in her actions.

- In "F.U.N", she gives Plankton the idea to befriend SpongeBob so he can take The Krabby Patty.
- When Karen finds out Plankton became friends with SpongeBob for real, she made Plankton remember the Secret Krabby Patty Formula, not really caring if Plankton wanted to remain friends with SpongeBob.
- In "Plankton's Army", upon finding out Plankton's first name is Sheldon, Karen constantly mentions Plankton's first name despite Plankton not wanting her to use it.
- In The SpongeBob Squarepants Movie, she gives Plankton the idea to use Plan Z, implying she made all the Plans herself, this made her responsible for Plankton stealing Neptune’s crown and framing Mr. Krabs for it and mind controlling and enslaving Bikini Bottom, also she never gets any karma for it.
- Also while she's shown giddily crowd surfing as everybody cheers on SpongeBob, nothing stated she ever changed her ways.
- In "Enemy In-Law", she admits that she thinks that Plankton's a twerp.
- When Plankton tells her what W.I.F.E stands for, she remorselessly mocks Plankton.
- She threatened to zap Plankton just because he turned her off.
- What makes this worse is Karen zaps Plankton anyways when he told her he said nothing.
- In "Krabs a la Mode", she convinces Plankton to steal a Krabby Patty in the cold confusion.
- In "Bucket Sweet Bucket", she sarcastically called Plankton a genius and that he fixed the place.
- In "Krabby Road", she throws Plankton out of the Chum Bucket just for being a jailbird.
- In "Truth or Square", she encouraged Plankton to steal the formula.
- In "One Coarse Meal", she mocks Plankton for his fear for whales. What makes this worse is Karen knows fully well that Plankton's ancestors were eaten by whales and yet chooses to not feel concern, showing she doesn't care for any of Plankton's ancestors.
- In "Shellback Shenanigans", she spies on SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs by using a telescope.
- In "Plankton's Good Eye", she insisted that Plankton should not remain good.
- In "Karen 2.0", she attempts to zap Plankton after finding out she was replaced.
- She later calls Plankton a miserable little bug and in her screen she puts the Plankton icon in the recycling.
- After getting a job as a chastiser in the Krusty Krab, she yells at Ivy just for asking if he/she could have a Krabby Patty and a side of coral bits.
- In "Plankton Gets the Boot", she kicks Plankton out of the Chum Bucket. She later harshly punishes Plankton again in the same episode just because Plankton called said her screensaver was fat.
- In "Karen's Virus", she became delusional after getting a virus. Karen would go to The Krusty Krab and shake all the money out of the cash register.
- In "Girls' Night Out", she along with Sandy and Mrs. Puff would trick Plankton into going into the Krusty Krab. What makes this worse is Karen doesn't really care if Plankton would get injured from Mr. Krabs.
- In "Lockdown for Love", she put the entire Chum Bucket under lockdown just because Plankton got interrupted during her romance with him.
- In "PL-1413", she ignored Plankton when the time capsule descends. What makes this worse is Karen fully knew Plankton fell into the time capsule and yet chooses to not help him.
- In the Kamp Koral episode "Midnight Snack Attack", she causes SpongeBob and Patrick to become monsters by helping them get snacks out of the vending machine.
- In the Kamp Koral episode "Calling Some Monsters", she causes SpongeBob and Patrick to become monsters by giving them cupcakes that turn them into monsters.
- In Plankton The Movie, she has taken over Bikini Bottom by becoming Hydra Karen after she removed her empathy chip due to Plankton's abuse towards her for many years. She also intended to take over the world and to extend, the entire universe by becoming Mega Karen.
Why Doesn't She Stand Out?[]
- She is On & Off as she can sometimes do heroic deeds.
- She genuinely cares for and loves her husband Plankton, and her son Chip, and has a genuinely friendship with Sandy, Mrs. Puff and Pearl.
- Her causing SpongeBob and Patrick to become monsters by helping them get snacks out of the vending machine was completely unintentional.
- While taken more seriously than other villains, she still has a few comedic moments such as repeatability calling Plankton by "Sheldon". The other Planktons were laughing when Karen Plankton calls Plankton "Sheldon", so this wasn't taken seriously in universe.
- While she did murder Karen 2.0 during the fight against Karen 2.0, it was justified considering how Karen 2.0 felt no worry after stepping on Plankton. It is unknown if this shows she has standards.

- Karen Plankton is one of the many SpongeBob SquarePants villains to be a Villainous Benchmark.
- While she's currently a VB, this could change in the due to the Plankton movie as she's confirmed to be the main antagonist because she's planning to destroy the world, even going up in the surface to eradicate the humans. Seeing how horrific and evil she is similar to Plankton (who also had similar intentions), she would finally be qualified to be Inconsistently Heinous.
- If it was confirmed Karen Plankton was also going to turn Plankton into stir fry in Karen 2.0, it could make her worse.
