~ Kamek introducing Bowser. |
Kamek is the secondary antagonist of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, an adaptation of Nintendo's Mario franchise.
He is the right-hand wizard of Bowser who helps him in his quest to conquer the Mushroom Kingdom and marry Princess Peach.
He is voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson.
His Evil Ranking[]
His Villainous Deeds[]
- He used his magic to easily subdue the Penguin King and his army and help Bowser obtain the Super Star.
- He trapped Luigi in a magic force-field so Bowser can torture him and get info about Mario.
- Under Bowser's orders, he tortured Toad in order to threaten Princess Peach into marrying Bowser.
- He sadistically told Bowser's prisoners that they'll be executed as a wedding tribute, showing that Kamek knows about Bowser's plan to ritualistically sacrifice his victims.
- He and the rest of Bowser's army attempted to kill Mario and Luigi once they are all transported to Brooklyn.
- While he does fall victim to some of Bowser's mistreatment, it's played for laughs rather than for sympathy. That goes without saying how it's rather deserved given how he takes sadism out of watching others get hurt or tortured by him.
- Most notably when he smiles at the sight of Bowser burning down the Penguins' kingdom and can also be seen snickering at his harsh interrogation of Luigi, thus absolving any seriousness out of it.
Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- While he is aware of Bowser's plan to kill all of his prisoners, Kamek ultimately fails the heinous standard to Bowser himself, who does far worse than him across the film's span with even Kamek's worst action of torturing Toad being done under his orders, although he still took sadistic pleasure out of in doing this.
- He has several comedic and humiliating moments, namely him getting his fingers crushed with a piano cover by Bowser and him dressing in drag to act out Bowser's proposal to Peach.
- Even though he barely treats him well, he is extremely loyal, supportive and affable towards Bowser, helping him through his proposal to Peach and even serving as the officiant for his wedding with her.
- He is a scapegoat, because he is a victim of Bowser’s abuse, all of which are portrayed as slapstick comedy, which he did not warrant due to his undying loyalty to him.
Trivia[]
- It is possible Kamek raised Bowser to be the evil tyrant he is today much like his games counterpart, but very little is known about his past because it is never shown on-screen in any part of the movie. If this were to be true and given Bowser wasn't already spoiled, this would make Kamek much worse.
