ā€œ Yoshi-dear, that baby is going to cause disaster to befall the Koopas. So give him here before you accidentally get hurt! ā€ž
~ Kamek threatening Yoshi in Yoshi's Island.

Kamek is the major antagonist of the Mario franchise, as well as the main antagonist of the Yoshi series.

He is an old, yet powerful Magikoopa and apparent advisor to Bowser as well as a father figure to Bowser in his youth. He is the second highest-ranking member in the Koopa Troop, of course counting Bowser himself (as well as possibly Bowser Jr. due to royalty blessing). He first appeared in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island: wherein he was shown to be Baby Bowser's caretaker. Nevertheless, Kamek maintains his loyalty to his boss and continues to look after Bowser, even into adulthood. He is also Yoshi's archenemy, which mirrors the dynamic between adult versions of Bowser and Mario, and clarifies where it comes from.

He is voiced by Atsushi Masaki.

His Villainous Deeds[]

  • Once the Mario Bros. finally reach Bowser Castle, both him and his paper counterpart unleash the Papercraft King Boo piloted by Morton and Lemmy.
  • Both he and his paper counterpart kidnap Toadette to prevent any more Papercraft from being developed and later blast off by the Mario Bros.
  • Both he and his paper counterpart assist Bowsers in rebuilding the previous Papercraft bosses.
  • Him and his paper counterpart take one last stand to stop the Mario Bros. themselves, but are defeated.

Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]

  • While him teaching Bowser to be a villain and his personal villainy towards Yoshi, allow him to pass the baseline , he fails the heinous standards to Bowser, who turns the Toads into bricks, tried flooding the world and overall does a lot worse than him. Resources donā€™t help as he is capable of using magic.
    • Sometimes when he aids him, he mostly just plays a supporting (and non-vital) role in them. Some of his other actions amount to aiding villains, kidnapping and generic "kill the heroes" villainy.
  • He cares about those closest to him:
    • He does care for Bowser, as he is loyal to him. He does assists him in taking over the world and did everything he could to make him ruled the world.
    • He does care for Bowser Jr. In Bowser Jr. Journey he said during his quest to obtain a cure for the blorbs. He also helps Bowser Jr. comes to his senses after everyone abandon him and he even team up with him to defeat the B.F.F the Best Fitness Friends.
    • He does manage to get along with his paper counterpart as he manages to team up with him to defeat the Mario Brothers without quarrelling and arguing and they did not plan to betray each other at the start unlike the regular Bowser and Paper Bowser.
  • Just like most other Mario villains, he has several comedic moments, affability, honor, and humiliating defeats. He is also On & Off, as sometimes he teams up with the heroes to face bigger threats rather than trying to kill them.
